GX580? new V8?
just read autoweek that the new LX coming soon will feature the updated Tundra 5.7-5.8 liter V8 that's good for 381 hp. i wonder if that means the GX will get similarly updated hardware and the newer engine also?
i've been looking at the GX's and know there's a jump in hp from 2004 to 2005, but thus far the used car prices are still holding up quite strong. ideally, i'd like to find a 2005 w/ navi/ML for about $30k. not sure when that might happen..so far, it seems like the 05's are going for similar prices to the big batches of 06-07 GX's going for low $40k's. how does that make sense, esp when new 07's are now being heavily discounted?

That new LX looks more like an evolutionary design of the current GX than the LX.
Thats going to put the New upcoming GX in an awkward spot. I wonder if they will move the Gx to a more SAV segment to compete with the X5 and MDX?

Hopefully next year there will be a GX570. If not probably be out as a 2009/10 model.
Thats one thing Lexus does different then most automotive manufactures. Takes its time to update things.

The next generation GX should go in the direction the Range Rover is, right now the GX is nothing more then a smaller LX, slightly different options but smaller, and will the V8 4Runner get a 5.7

Here are more pics of the LX570. Interior looks really nice. 3rd row seats are not removable. Both 2nd and 3rd row seats are power. Suspension is AHC w/ KDSS. The AHC lowers the vehicle at highway speeds for better fuel economy.

One thing they should just add an electric motor to make it a hybrid.
Should add about 38 hp or more.
Min would be like ... 308 hp
GX540h ???
Just add a couple new things found in the LX and LS would be nice.

Whats wrong with looking like the LS460, I happen to like the new look of the LS460. The 1st time I saw the new LX pictures, all I can say was wow. Now that I seen the interior pics, double wow. Wish I can afford it.

I love the addition of the power 2nd row seats. My main problem with the GX is most of the time, we are not carrying that much cargo and it would be nice for the 2nd row passengers to be able to move their seats further back to give more space when there is a 6'4"+ passenger+driver up front.

GX has always been the best looking of the SUV's - LX was always rather dull and uninteresting, guess Lexus realized the GX was the best think to copy - I would definitely consider it if it wasn't 20g's more than the GX - the old one really wasn't worth the extra dough in my book - actually wouldn't have bought it for the same money, but the new one I might consider if it was 5k or so more (which isn't going to happen!)

You know, I'm a HP fiend w/my cars, but frankly don't think the GX needs more HP. If anything I'd love a really good turbo DIESEL with roughly the same HP and more torque. That, IMHO, would serve the GX more appropriately than a bigger high-hp V8.
