Default Wood Kits

Has anyone purchased an additional factory match wood kit for their GX? I really think the center console and window switches would look much better with some wood trim, the bezel around the radio really doesn't bother me. I was just curious if anyone on here has done this?

Can you buy less than the whole kit- I could see getting a few pieces, but the whole kit looks pretty tacky! I could see just the window switches and center console middle.

Yeah, I agree with you, the trim pieces around the radio and tape player are too much. I think window switches and center console at most.

I bought a full kit (only way it came) and only used the following pieces.

1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35.

What color interior do you have? Were you happy with the color match? Can you post a picture?

Thanks!

Hmmm, a little too busy for me. BTW I thought the factory trims are real wood trims not synthetic.

I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me where to buy one of the kits. Are these kits official Lexus GX kits or aftermarket? Are they easily installed and, and, if so, how?

The factory wood trim is real wood, but I think it's only a few mm thick. A backing piece and lots of clearcoat help keep it together.

My biggest concern about a project like this would be the color match. Lexus makes a big deal out of the fact that all of the wood trim in a given car is from the same tree so that it has the same color and grain. If one of the pieces is damaged somehow on the assembly line, ALL of the pieces are replaced with a new set.

I do agree that a little more wood is nicer in the GX; the factory should have put more in.

I have a Joshua Tree wood kit on my RX300, but some of the pieces I got weren't even cut right and even some of the wood pieces did not look good compared to the original wood. In the end, I only ended up keeping certain pieces and ditching others.

Hola, Lexus Mejico.....

I will bet that the kit you bought was not from Sherwood Dash. Their stuff is made to perfection. Not all kits are the same.

From my research, I have found that most of the kits are made by B&I Trim Product Manufacturers. So, you just need to find the cheapest reseller. So far, the cheapest price for the entire kit was at ExoticWoodDash.com
