I'd like the JX to be out for a while and to know a little more about it prior to jumping the gun with it. Right now, I am only 6-7 months into my GX and am very pleased.

I dont even think if JX is a rumor or not.

But I am pretty sure there will be new LX, not JX. JX could be a new addition to compete against X5 and ML.

IMHO, I would go with new X5 4.8. The car looks awesome.

btw, X5 and GX are as different as they can be. if you want a little bit of sport, GX won't cut it. Otherwise, it's a great car.

rleggs,
If you dont want a hot rod, then the X5, Q7 and the SRX are out. The JX is not even an concept car yet, so forget about the JX. The MB GL450 is a nice SUV, but it cost about 10,000 more, its not in the same class as the GX. The Escalade is nothing more than a bunch of nut of bolts slap together and put on 4 wheels. The LR3 has serious reliebility issues and their dealers are terrible after purchase.
Bottom line is, If money is no object, the MB is the way to go. If you dont care about reliebility and the dealer giving you the run around, then the Land Rover should be your choice. If none of those things above applies to you, the GX is your best buy. Of course, you know I am bias because I own a GX.

Good Luck

The X5 is design for handling, its suspension is very stiff compare to the GX. The best thing to do is go test drive an X5 and judge for yourself. People who shop the X5 usually compare it to the Cayenne, Range Rover sports, QX35 or 45, or the Toureg.

Yea, I would like to know everyones opinion on this as well. My wifes X5 is off lease in December so we have been looking. We would really like a 3rd row seat. She has driven the Q7 at the Audi event this past summer. They had a Lexus GX and a Volvo XC90 there to compare it to and the Q7 was hands down the best handling and most responsive of them. Unfortunately the GX got the worst marks for handling but the interior is very nice. My wife really wants the GX but after driving it along side the Q7 it is hard to really go that way. She just drove the new MB GL470 and really, really likes it. Not crazy about the way the exterior looks but the thing drives great and really excellent fit and finish. So we are presently in the same situation as to what to buy. I read a post in the LX forum about comparing the new MB GL to the LX. Some really good stuff in there. I think we can get a good deal on the GX since they are not selling as crazy as they once did. I think we would buy the GL if they were not so new and they offered some better deals. The new X5 right now is out of the question because the one we have right now is way to stiff to drive around with kids in the back. The new, longer wheelbase X5 may have improved that. She also went to the Acura dealer to look at the new MDX with the 3rd row seating. Apparently it is not out yet but the pricing seems good. As of right now the GL is top on our list with the GX or LX second and waiting on driving the new X5 and MDX. We even may look at the Lincoln Navigator. I know...why? Well my father retired from Ford and I can get A Plan pricing on it. So I can get a big SUV at the best price doing that. It will be good to hear what others have to say about this.

I disagree that the ML is the way to go if money is no object. I feel fortunate and blessed that economics did not stand in the way of me purchasing the vehicle I wanted. A very close friend sell Mercedes and would have given me the best deal possible if I wanted an ML. Not the reason my wife drives a Mercedes, but a nice perk. Anyway, I had a ML for a long weekend and drove it on the back roads to Tennessee and all around Atlanta. I didn't like it a bit. 1 short drive in the GX and bought one.

If you're looking for a hot rod, drive the Touareg. With 320 horses, a suspension that lowers 1 3/4 inches at highway speeds, Pirelli pZero tires and Brembo brakes, it's a hot rod. Only starts every other time, but when it runs, it runs like hell.

Only GX470 and Escalade have reclining 2nd & 3rd row seats!!
3rd row seats doesn't fold flat on both cars.... but, my kid's comfort come first on my decision....

JX has been rumored for quite some time. The thought was that it would be based on a Sequoia, but then Edmunds started a rumor about it looking more like the crossover SUV concept car, like a 3-row RX.

The name "JX 470" was trademarked quite a while ago, so that lends credibility to the Sequoia theory.

I thought the GX 3rd row seats were jump type seats that sat on either side of the back area not in a row? Can you explain how they recline? I haven't looked at the GX very closely so this may be a dumb question.
