Default It seems to me that tank been encreased in 2005/2006

I also usually have 280miles per tank and during this summer when I drove a lot to my summer house I regulary got 300-320mile with 90% of highway with 65mph. But what I noticed is that for 2006 (don't know about 2005) the tank listed with 23 gallons. I did not check my book (I have 2004) for what they list there, but if it would be 23 gallons, than 320/23 it would be 13 mpg - way to low for the highway. Can someone confirm my guess?

I am sure you dont run the gas tank all the way down, so the mileage is actually higher than 13 MPG.

Default Miles

I cant remember the exact amount of miles per tank but it averages about 280 to 320 pending the amount of highway. I did a little testing recently on a drive to Vegas. I got 15 mpg out there and 19.1 on the way home.

280 sounds like what I'm getting... according to on my board computer... average around 14-15mpg...
I believe there's 1 or 2 gallons reserved in the tank... eventhough the computer says 0 miles...
Most gas I ever filled my car with was 20.7 gallons so far... when 14 miles remaining...

Why I decided that tank in my 2004 should be smaller than 23g is that because when I see around 50 mi "left" (on computer) on gas I still have in tank - I was able to add only 14.5 - 15 more gallons. So, it cannot be 23 g tank.

hey CVsGx470...how on earth do you get 320 miles per full tank. You must not hit any traffic in Ohio or what? Did you buy any chip for your GX to add mileage ?

370-380 is believable. I get about 250-260 while towing a loaded car trailer (4,500 lbs.).

No chip...

I do hit a lot of traffic in the morning. My commute is about 18 miles one way and about 10 of that is highway. Traffic is stop and go in the AM but not too bad unless an accident in the evening. My onboard computer is telling me that I am getting 18.2 mpg (we all know that it is off). The last time I filled up, the trip odometer said 320 and my computer said that I had about 40 miles left in the tank. I'll take pictures the next time I fill up.

I also use BP/Amoco 93...

I've calculated mileage over several tanks of fuel and averaged 16.54 MPG when avergaging 27 MPH according to the on-board computer. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=235966
Averaging higher MPH (to a point) yields better mileage. Anyway, to answer your question, I can routinely go 340-350 miles on a tank if I run it down until there's only a couple gallons left.

As you probably know, the GX fuel computer tends to be optimistic (mine 's optimistic by about 2.5 MPG) so be sure to actually calculate to get accurate mileage.

FWIW, my LS430 computer is pessimistic by a couple tenths of a mile, so it's not always the case that Toyotas are optimistic (as some have claimed).

I usually use 92 octane gas and get about 340-350 per tank. My on board computer usually says I get about 19.2 mpg, but my calculations are at about 17.6. Someone here once posted that they fill the tank until the pump makes its first click and stops pumping. I thought that was a great idea, since it probably clicks at the same point everytime or pretty close.
