HID COnversion H11 and H3
For those that have done the HID conversion for the GX470 I have read that it has been done succesfully with a aftermarket H11 Kit. But did you have to upgrade the fuse to accomodate for the extra power necessary for the HID kit? Also has anyone done both HID conversion kits for the headlight and fog lights? I did read the threads for this but did not see this mentioned. I have done both on my FX45 and it does look great with a uniform color, but the FX did come with factory HID's for the headlights. Thanks in advace.

You don't have to upgrade the fuse because the xenon kit connects directly to the battery and has it's own fuse, just uses the existing connections to switch the xenons on or off. For the fogs, you will need to upgrade to the projector foglights that you can buy around and on ebay, so it is much more expensive than the regular lights since they have projector enclosures already. I just did xenonmatch bulbs for my highs, fogs and running lights and the color match is perfect, so the fogs are as white as my 4300k xenon lows.

My 06 GX470 uses projector for the low beam and high beams, but none for the fogs. So I may do HID for all 3. But why would you need a projector housing in order to do the HID kit for the fogs? I'm sure you can do it without as I have done on my FX45. It would be pretty difficult and costly to do that for the fogs IMO. Can you perhaps direct me to a thread that discusses this topic on the GX470. Thank you.

Sorry - always thought you needed the projector lenses to do HID's correclty, but it looks like you don't - all the factory stuff uses projectors. The only thing I would be carefull to check on the fogs is if the bulb will fit as they tend to be long bulbs and the fogs have a short bulb and not a lot of room in them.
xenondepot is the best place to find out and get decent stuff.

Thank you for your replies. I looked over several very OLD threads regarding the HID conversions for the headlights and fog lights. Pretty straight foward stuff so it looks like I will be doing these upgrades very soon. But I do not know why the xenondepot kit is so pricey. I use mtec kit for my fogs in my fx45 and it was just about $100.00 cheaper and its is a solid kit made in japan. I will probably buy 2 of the mtec kits for the headlights and fog lights. Will post pics when it is done.
