Default Mission:big Bear (off Road Pics)

Hi guys!
just got back from my mini off road trip to Big Bear for the TTORA/YOTATECH meet. Had tons of fun, and met some really friendly people.
All i have to say is WOW! now i knew the GX was a very capable off-roader, but not to the degree that i experienced. The GX performed flawlessly, 4lo was used through the whole trail, ATRAC engaged MANY times, which got me through obsticles effortlessly,KDSS ...no explanation needed, and best of all...NO DAMAGE!

sittin pretty

gettin ready

met up Edwin (Yotatech member-Ebelen1)

hungry for some action

You should sell these pics to Lexus. You've just given them one of their best commercials I have ever seen. Incredible.

Default Very cool pics--But what is that grey material in the front?(m)

Also, what did you do with the running boards?
One more question- How did you post the pics? I tried, but mine are huge, about 1.2mb each (8mp camera) How does one dumb the pics down to post?

Fantastic pictures!

Looks like a fun time. What tires did you switch to for off roading?

thanks for the comments

JWS3- the running boards and front bumper were removed prior to the trip.
as RX900 said, try using photobucket, it automatically resizes large pictures.

SilverLady- tires i use are Goodyear MT/R 265-70-17

Default Good show!

My congratulations to you, and your spotter.

Did you go to a larger tire size, and/or a lift kit?

I'm also wanting to take the running boards off for when the going gets tough. I was looking into Hanna sliders (hannaquality.com) to temporarily replace the running boards, but if anybody can recommend other products, I'd love to hear about them. Except for the running boards, this car is a serious machine.

Maybe Lexus should face off the gx470 with other off-road cars? Check out http://www.fourwheeler.com/roadtests...ty/index7.html if you're wondering about the car's capabilities.

While I agree many/most of gx470 owners will never go off road, there are some of us who go off road. Sometimes I need a car like this to get to get somewhere remote, and sometimes the fun is the journey itself.

StarbuckGX- i replaced my clean bumper for one i got at a junkyard. i stripped the paint off, primered the bumper and added the Hellas.

Markmit- tire size is 265-70-17 goodyear mt/r, so they're about an inch taller. i do have a front spacer lift waiting to go on when i have some time.
as for sliders, i'm plannin on talking to demello about fabbing me some bolt-on sliders.
