According to the TSB you posted, I have only one month left for the warranty. Not sure how the dealer would like to deal with this. Any suggetion from this forum?

Mann, looks like they no longer recommend replacing the control arms?!

Mine were replace when I had mine done a couple years ago -- and resulted in a significantly stiffer ride. I just crawled under it and found white paint dots on both control arms. Whereas the previous TSB references yellow and blue paint marks. Any idea what's up?

I can confirm that my control arms were not replaced and I just had the TSB done a month ago. My ride is as smooth as when I brought it in and I have not felt the clunk once. Of course, before the TSB, I only felt it once.

I only had the propeller shaft replaced and now the clunk is gone and I still have a soft and smooth ride.

Does anyone know if the TSB applies to our 2003 LX 470? It has the "clunk" as well. This appears to be much more prevalent in the GX model, but I've seen others with the LX 470 complaining of this issue as well. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,

I just posted an update on the Lexus Owners Club Forum under Thump.

Default Wow!

Was driving to the Bay Area on Saturday going up the hill towards the Caldicott(sp) Tunnel. Decelerated because of traffic. When I accelerated, MAJOR CLUNK! Felt like the axle spun and then grabbed - CLUNK. Felt like somebody hit us from behind. Happened two more times on the trip. All seemed to be when driving uphill, decel, then accel - CLUNK. Are these the symptoms or what? It's at the dealer now as I write. The note on my paperwork says "Extra Care" with the comments. What's extra care? My extended warranty? Seems this is a TSB issue... hmmm

Default What was your milage when the clunk begun?

For those that have had the clunk issue, what was your milage when this occurred? For those that have experienced it while out of warranty, what was the cost to fix it? - My GX is fine, but a problem in this forum with nearly 100,000 views worries me.

I believe the answer somewhere in this thread. Look for the TSB file.

Would this be covered with an aftermarket bumper to bumper warranty or is it refered to as " preventative maintenance" meaning nothing is broke just an inconvenience.

72 months or 70,000 miles, I believe. I don't think aftermarket warranty would cover it, but worth a try.

this is not a warranty issue as far as I know. I was told from Lexus service that is was a defective issue. Should be able to get it replaced regardless of the mileage.
