I don't know what it is, or maybe it is a cultural thing since the GX is made and shipped from Japan, but it really confuses me as to why there are ashtrays on the back doors. I can remember back in my youth when all cars came with ashtrays in the rear doors and they became nothing but trash holders for gum and candy wrappers. Does anyone else find it weird that the ashtray in the GX seems to be an important feature? Heck, we have two huge compartments on the dash for the ashtray (which does a good job of holding the cell phone btw) and another compartment for the lighter.

Personally I don't (and haven't in any of my cars for years) consider them to be ashtrays and cigarette lighters. I consider them to be "trashtrays" and 12V power ports.
