Is there any way to change the wood trim to the black trim??? or arent there anything or anyone who can resurface the existing trim to darken the thing?

Actually, I was kind of waiting for another member metropol who didn't like the blackwood and offered to swap with him. I'm not sure if he even bought the GX yet

Lexus use real wood. So if you're adventurous, you can sand off the wood and restain it, then apply a polyurethane over it. I contemplated doing this for my GS, but haven't had the time.

But for the GS, there are couple of aftermarket pieces that you can either replace or apply over.
Maybe you can see if americanstitches.com can restain it for you.

the "wood" on my sports package, was actually plastic on the door panels.

Check out this article, it states that the GX use real maple wood trim on the dash, center console, and door panels.

What may be the case here is that it is actual real wood veneer glue onto a plastic panel.
