Driver seat comfort - anyone have issues?
The bottom of the drivers seat cause lower back (and butt) discomfort after driving for long periods. Back support seems fine, good lumbar support, it's just the bottom that seems to give me issues. Anyone else have this issue? Any possible cures?
Thanks,

As far as lower back support, Try moving your seat position around, i.e. seat back tilt. Moving the tilt so that you can sit leaning further back may alleviate your pain. It worked for me when I had lower back cramps after long periods of driving. I simply tilted the seat back into a more reclined position.

I think it is EXTREMELY comfortable. Love it! It feels a lot better than most things in my house! When I need a break, I'd rather go sit in the GX than my couch. But that is just me

The longest drive I did was 4 hours in my GX (2 hours each with a 30 minute break ) and have no major complaints. JUst got out to stretch and good to go .
Both of my lexus (GS) seats are verrrry comfortable. My wife and I can not get comfortable for more than 30 minutes in the S500 (no longer), and I'm not exaggerating either. Even the c-class for a loaner was very stiff.

I can top just about any other claims. New Jersey to Florida in 24+ hrs (18 hrs day 1, the rest day 2) and back (over 48 hrs in the GX... sheesh! The headrest-monitors came in handy!). If I can sit through that and enjoy it, the seats must be supremely comfortable.

Overall they are very plush and comfortable. Although, I sometimes get a little uncomfortable after long drives. It tends to be my upper leg (hamstring) area. I personally think it is because the seats are very short (bottom cushion length-wise leg support) compared to other vehicles I have owned. Being 6'2", the seat ends about mid-thigh, where other vehicles support me a couple more inches toward the knee. After long drives, I think it is just enough to literally be a pain in my ****. I also sit at a desk all day, so I think that plays into it as well.
Not sure of the height of the other folks... this is just my experience.

The seat bottom isn't as long as other vehicles. This can cause issues with taller drivers or those with long legs. With the short seat bottom, the back of the legs are not supported. I am 6'5" and they are not the most comfortable seats I've ever had (I've had worse). The seat back seems very good, but I wish they had a longer seat bottom and a little manual seat extender at the front of the seat bottom like BMW. That helps give the extra support to long legs and would make these seats much better, IMHO.

I agree with SacKen and Donger. I feel it in my hamstrings as well. I am 6' and it took me a while to find the best seating position. I wish the seat bottom extended an inch or two. I had this problem in my wife's RX too. I guess these vehicles are made primarily for folks with shorter legs?

This is why I posted - I'm 6'3" and
my problem with the seat is that it ends up putting too much pressure on my tailbone. I went from a BMW 540 with the sport seats (front of the seat did extend to give additional thigh support) to the GX 470. The BMW seats never felt real comfortable, but even after driving eight hours I had no soreness when I got up, and the drving osition seemed perfect. Duh! it's a sport sedan it's supposed to be that way. The Lexus is so much easier to get in and out of, but I have not yet found a really good driveing position. (4 months, 6k miles). No real discomfort anywhere except the tailbone area. I'm trying to remember, prior to the 540 I had a '98 GS400, and I think the seats in that were very similar.
