Default Pricing/Fees/Etc (Ray Catena Lexus)

Met with a SP yesterday and told them I wanted to order a Blizzard Pearl loaded with KDSS, Nav/Mark Lev, 3rd Row Seat, Tow Package (does not include hitch or receiver).

Total price would be $51,663

Then, he said he has one coming in at the end of the month with everything I want less the KDSS and I could have that one for $49,999.

But here are the fees I would like some insight on that I am having a hard time with. I know what they all are but, wondered if some of you experts can tell me what may or may not be negotiable and if so, to what degree?

Registration/Title Fee (estimated) $319
Documentary Fee $199 (Clerical Exp. $66, Document Delivery Fee $50, Admin Fee $83)

Btw, the two quotes above include the D&H fee of $650...which I know is a rip off but, what ya gonna do?

Most dealers add such fees as a general part of doing business. IMHO they are all rip off's but you normally can't do much about them. It doesn't look like your getting much discount on the purchase. Why not simply try to get the $'s off the base price. Much better way to do it IMHO. BTW - My 04 is identical to the 49,999 unit. I paid 46409

Care to share your dealership/SP so that I might make a run at one through them?

Actually I just picked up my GX-470 this past Saturday from Ray Catena (First Lexus). Same options as yours (similar answer regarding KDSS so we didnt get it). I was only charged for Sales Tax, NY State Inspection and a registration fee. Sales guys was good...Barry Spring...I would recommend him. Total Price (we also traded in an Acura MDX) was 47,900.00 plus the above about another $340 plus tax.

hold on, I just check our paper work and we were only charged NY Registrration fee of $122, plus tax (truck was 47,900) but the truck price was lowered to increase our trade in MDX by an additional $1,000

Do you happen to have your window sticker available to scan or make a copy to fax? I am trying to make sure they make a buck but I don't get screwed on the purchase. Btw, I canceled the in-bound truck and will place an order for one with KDSS.

Thx.

I tell the dealer upfront that I want an "out the door" price.

My last BMW, Toyota and Lexus had doc fees etc, but they reduced the selling price of the vehicle and added them back as fees. That way if they want to charge you $1 or $10,000 for doc fees; you don't care. They know it's a cheating way of doing businees and they never question the request.

It also equalizes comparing prices between dealers.

The first time I came across doc fees was buying a $40K BMW in 1988. They wanted to stick me with another $40. I left, and they were calling before I got home. I bought the car without the fee!

Banks are getting just as bad with fees, so ask up front what the bottom line is.

Good luck,

Bob

Another thought,

If you're close to a state line, try another dealer. Example, Arkansas Toyota's come from
gulf state disturbuter that adds about $1K to a similar priced vehicle. My last 2 Toyota's were bought in Nebraska , BMW came from TN and GX came from KC.

Many incentives are regional, so there may a those differences also.
