I have the front guard. It saved me many times from people backing into me when they park. Installation was pretty easy. Scroll down to the last 4 post for pics:

I picked these instead of the full brush guards because:
1 - the full brush guards are heavier
2 - With the full brush guards (the ones that cover your headlights), if you get into a small accident, the guard may bust up your hood & headlights.

Default WAAG Guards

The WAAG guards are arguably the best on the market. I had them on my Expedition and loved them. The ones you've shown here will certainly provide you the bumper protection I'd imagine you are looking for in NYC. WAAG is also really good about utilizing factory mounting holes and really minimizing the need for any custom cutting drilling etc.

I assume your dealer does NOT say the same thing about the Lexus (ugly!, IMHO) bumper guard they'll sell you.

He doesn't. He has a reason not to. The OEM one is mounted on the bumper (well, it looks like it does). When you get into an accident, the OEM guard would go right into the bumper, activating the airbag sensors.

The WAAG or any other guard ususally mounts on the tow hooks of the front of the car (which is MUCH MUCH stronger). If you get into a moderate accident, the guard may NOT fly into the bumper (because it is connected to the strong frame of the truck).

I say screw the dealer. Do as you please. It doesn't void nothing. Why would it void your warranty? The bar does NOT affect anything on the car. If you have engine problems and need warranty work, they can't deny you of that. The guard does NOT affect the engine. If you need warranty work with your headlights, they can NOT deny you of that either......etc.

But to be safe, you can easily un-install the guard. It only takes 30 minutes or less to take it off.
