Awesome pictures sacken

and BTW, nice color on your GX.....I could be your almost younger identical twin

With all these snow talk, did anyone try or needed to use that "2nd start" button? I read in the manual that you could start up with that when you're in the mud, snow, and other difficult terrain.

No, I haven't tried it. Not being an educated off-roader, I'm not really sure what situation requires "2nd start". The GX was so good about directing power to the wheels with traction that I never felt tire spin at all. I was in normal driving mode the entire time with no special settings except for the suspension in "sport".

I agree. I'm on my second LC and have never used the 2nd start. In addition the 4 wheel traction control takes care of any wheelspin.

Believe it or not, I have to use the second start on my '02 RX300 when it snows with my crappy OEM Bridgestones. If I don't, the RX is all over the place on startup, even with AWD and VSC. They're almost at the end of their treadlife, so I will be picking up a set of Cross Terrains at the end of this month to go along with the ones we have on the wife's GX. Costco has their yearly $60 off when you buy 4 Michelins until 1/31.

Im so happy with the GX
Tony,

I was just in Vegas last week for the CES. I just got out of Chicago when we were getting our foot of snow and couldn't believe it was snowing in Vegas on Friday. Between the CES during the day and the casino's at night, I didn't have to be out much.

I know why you really went to the CES show but what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas. Just kidding but the snow has been crazy here first time in 10 years I have lived here that we had a 3 inch accumulation. Snow has been hitting us hard espcially in the mountains and flooding.

My brother-in-law was just there for the CES. He works for a local electronics store (Abt).

Wasn't there another ... um "convnention" going on there?

In addition to the CES, the **** convention was there also
I don't know of anyone who went to that the "other" convention.

But anyways, what does the 2nd start allow you to do?

3 Things were going on at the same time...CES, Internext (the Porno Convention) and also the Adult Video Awards. The latter two cost some $$ to get into unless you're in the business.

Gohawks63, ABT is down the street from me. Great place. I recently finished my basement and bought all my A/V stuff from there.

Finally, to answer the question, second start starts the transmission in 2nd gear from the stoplight in order to avoid wheelspin in the ice and snow. Although the VSC accomplishes this also, the two together are really awsome.

Since we were talking snow.. We went to the snow this weekend. This is the top of Mauna Kea. It's a little over 13,00 feet.. Other than a loss of power at that height, it did just fine!!

By 10am this morning I had gone to the gym, the lady had finished any necessary shopping, but of course my 23 yr old younger sister calls at 3pm, stuck at work. So I trek out into the Midatlantic blizzard to pick her up. The GX performed excellently. Zipped by several sedans stuck in the roads.

Default Not Invinsible in Snow - Drive Slowly and Carefully

I do agree the GX is good in snow, but yesterday I also had a reality check that nothing short of a snowmobile is 100% secure in snow.

Here in NJ, we are in the middle of a huge snow storm. Yesterday with only 2-3" inches on the ground (start of the storm), I ventured out to a restaurant for lunch.

This is my first snow storm in the GX. I was confident enough to venture out because I had the GX, however there was a patch of snow on the road on the way to the restaurant that my GX did not agree with, so the GX started to fish tail, traction control starting beeping and oncoming cars were just in the other lane. The GX's sophisticated systems brought me back in line and then all was good from there and on the way back.

I believe I should have probably driven much slower, but I was doing about 30MPH. Either way, the message I am trying to convey is that the GX470 can get you through the snow, but still drive slowly and carefully, since we are still not invinsible in snow.

Stay safe!
