These are some of the functions that you can have Lexus changes (formally C-BEST, now called LPS) for free (at least the first time).

However, these are also the only ones that a user can program themselves. It does work as I have done them all.

Check the manual, but basically it involves getting in, shutting the door, put hand brake on, then put the Shift lever in P or in N (depending on which function you are doing) and then turn key to ON (not Start) and then with 10seconds hold the lock side (or unlock side again depending on the function you are changing) of the driver side door lock switch for 5 seconds and releasing. The doors will then lock and unlock once by themselves to acknowledge the change after you release.

BTW, the functions are NOT mutually exclusive. That is you can have the doors lock when shifted out of Park AND lock when you go over 13mph. Similary you can have the doors unlock when you open the drivers door within 10 seconds of taking the key out AND when you shift to P.
Worked like a charm! What a great feature and took about 30 seconds to do. I used the blinking dots on the lexus clock to count out the five seconds and voila. Here's the readers digest condensed version:

1. Turn the key to "On"
2. Hold the rear of the door lock switch down (open) for five seconds (use Lexus clock to count).
3. Let go after five seconds.

He said the easist way to do it is for the Lexus technician to plug a computer into the car and program it.

The door locks are about the only thing you can change without the C-Best equipment. I have changed those per my preference. If you follow the directions in the manual it is very easy and takes about 10 seconds....

The door stuff you can do but the regular CBEST has to be done by the tech.

Default Height Control

When I had the LX in order to use the height control, all doors had to be closed.

Today I discovered that the HC on the GX works with the doors open, cool!!

OK, I finally figured it out. This is new to me for the Lexus nav with voice recognition:

You can change the vehicle's position on the map by saying: "Map direction"

Somewhere on this forum, I read that if the switch is on the left side, both mirrors tilt down. But if it's on the right, only the right one tilts (which makes sense to me). But in my GX, it doesn't matter which side it's on...both mirrors tilt down. Is that the same as everyone else?

Yes, both mirrors tilt down automatically when the shift lever is in Reverse.

However, you will notice that the right mirror tilts more than the left.
