nav update
Has anyone yet installed the updated 4th generation navigation dvd? What added features will be compatable with an '04 GX system? Can you enter destinations based on phone number?

Please keep us posted. I just played with the 4th gen nav on an '05 Land Cruiser and it was a lot nicer than my '04 GX. It was faster, prettier, and a little easier to use.

lexusnc, where did you order the update from? And do we think it will be able to update or gen 3 system to the new features? I'm not expecting it to do the bluetooth stuff, but it was faster and the interface was even easier to use.

Please do me a favor and double check your version of your software.
Push on Menu. When the screen changes, you should see on the upper right-hand corner of the screen, the word, DVD. Touch the word DVD and the screen will change. Please tell me what is the exact version number that is shown. Mine shows: ver.03.1

It says V.4.0.1 or something along those lines... Not sure exactly but there's a 4 in it. I'll check it next time I'm in the car.

I've got 3.1 on an '04
I bought mine in '04 and have version 3.1.
Correct me if Im wrong but upgrading your dvd only upgrades new map locations not the function of the hardware as far as changing it from GEN 3 to GEN 4 right?

Well, just put the new 4.01 update in the system and it did absolutly nothing, but update the maps. No search by phone number, no new user interface. Thought you all would like to know. Let me know if you have any more questions......

DOH! That stinks. I really like that new interface.
Do we know if NC got updated? I thought I read somewhere that they only updated each part of the country every few years. There's been enough highway construction around Greensboro, Charlotte, and Raleigh that an update would be nice.
