Help - Have I bought a Lemon GX 2004???
Hi,
I am scheduled to meet and finalize a deal for a GX470 2004. I decided to check out the forum to get pumped up. Instead, I am very scared.
Has Lexus fixed all the issues? Vibration etc ...
Would appreciate any comments from owners who have recently acquired a 2004.
Thank You ...

No problems on the '04s
I have had three friends including myself that bought late 03, early 04s with no issues at all. I bought my truck last month with the build 9700E and it is smooth and quiet and everything a lexus should be. Dont worry look on the window sticker and make sure that it is at least a 9700E build it is listed on the window sticker and door sills. I have not seen anyone with 04s on this forums with complaints yet and we have quite a few members.

No problem and one question...
Don't worry man.
So far I have been driving for about a month, there aren't major problems.
But I'm just wondering one thing which is the brake.
GX is my first SUV, I have been driving sedans all my life, no experience on big truck.
Do you guys feel that you'll have to step deeper to stop your GXs than other cars? Or it's just me?

I would tend to agree with you, although like yourself, this is my first truck. The other thing which may contribute to that feeling is that this truck really coasts (Michelins), compared to the ES330. Maybe it's just the mass/momentum

Hey gs400jon
Oh... Yeah! You got the same feeling as i feel about the brake.
Desipte the mass, I have driven commercial truck before, and I still got a strange feeling about my GX.
Everytime I drive, I have to step pretty deep to get it stop.

Brake issues
I think my GX has awesome brakes for its size. Several car magazines and websites show the GX is one of the best braking SUVs. I know that the brakes on the GX is better than on my old 03 Acura MDX and Acura upgraded their calipers to a four pot brake kit. The pedal feel on my GX is pretty good I can modulate it really well on long steep hills and for quick down hill stops.

KASH and GS400
Hey guys you both have KDSS on your trucks how do you compare the ride to a regular GX with no KDSS. I am interested in the handling aspects on the road and cornering. KDSS was not avaliable at my dealership when I bought mine a month ago. Please do a brief review and let me know. I saw the first KDSS truck on the lot this week and noticed the antiroll bars were three times as thick as the regular GX antiroll bars.

Tony,
There's a thread called "KDSS, Looknow's Review", on page two of this forum. That should give you a good idea of non-KDSS versus KDSS. I didn't drive the demo enough to give you a good comparison. With my truck in the Sport setting, though, it sure feels a lot like the GS400 I just sold.

Pete...I love mine!
I have an 04 GX 470 with 3 weeks and 800 miles under it.
I've owned 3 4Runner's, 2 Yukons & a QX4 and my wife says, "You've had apples, now you've got a pineapple!".
I've got the factory standard Bridgestone's and did the dealer installed spoiler and tinted the front windows to match, and got the upgraded alloy wheels. The truck is the smoothest, quietest and MOST solid vehicle I've ever owned. The plant in Japan where these are manufactured recieved JD Powers top award for the most efficient, highest quality automobile plant in the WORLD.
No vibrations, soft brakes or any of the other possible complaints have been noticed on mine.
I wish there was a power "fold in" feature for the side mirrors (ala GM) and don't care for the touch panels on the center console...have trouble getting them to stay closed at times.
Love the rain sensing windshield wiper feature, the auto adjust on drivers seat & tilt angle of the steering wheel.
Would think the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor that you have a top quality vehicle, and would not fret about it.
