Default GX at Hungry Valley part 2

I took my GX470 to Hungry Valley again to try their slopes. The photos don't justify how steep the hill is.

It was amazing to watch all four wheels spinning while going up the really steep hill. My experience tells me to leave the center diff unlocked so that VSC will remain on during this condition. Because when 4 wheels starts to spin the truck starts to get side ways and might roll over. I really haven't get the chance to try out the really hard trails yet, maybe when my GX is older. I was also really impressed how stiff the GX frame is. The door remains lined up even at when one of the wheel is off the ground!!.

All in all, after owning my GX for 11months I'm really happy with my purchase despite its minor imprefections we all have experienced. But as long as I can get to use my GX to what it's made for, to tow and go off road, I'm a very happy camper! happy holidays everyone!

I am glad to see that you have decided to take the GX off-roading. I am not an expert, but have heard that it is important to have some form of instruction for this form of driving. The right tires are very important plus the correct tire pressure for the surrounding environment. Also when to engage the diff lock etc.

We all can learn from others experiences.

Happy off-roading

Nice but your spinning is an indication of you going way to fast for the conditions and speed will only break tie rods or control arms, the VSC should be off so your in 4X4 mode, air down the tires to like 20psi, or opt for AT tires for better offroad traction over the all season on it now.

Try it with the VSC off and go slower, but if your going sideways to the point where you need the VSC to stop the truck from rolling over your to heavy on the gas, the wheels are suppost to stay in contact with the ground when 4wheelin not be spinning.

Like the pics but since you seem to be the only guy offraoding your GX you might want to join www.yotatech.com the 4Runner guys can aim you in the correct direction when it comes to off road, your in California their are tons of 4Runner guys out their, meets and gathering to go out together are always happening

Here's a thread on my site about basic off-roading driving skills:

Hope this helps.
