Default First time running Staggered setup on AWD

Hi Guys,

I just need some advice and input from wheel gurus and guys that are running staggered setup on their awd 3gs or has before. I typically run square set ups on my 3gs but i like a set of wheels and they only offer a 9 then jumps to 10.5 and 11 width wheels. The x9 wheel concave is kinda weak and putting a 10.5 up front will be alot of work that needs to be done. I will also need help on configuring a good tire setup so the rolling diameter is close to OEM as possible or i heard you will destroy your transmission if you dont.

Spec they offer for the wheels;

Wheel Size- 20x9 , 20x10.5 , 20x11
Offsets- 15,25,38

what i want to do maybe?
20x9 +25 front (+15 if i can fit them)
20x10.5 +25 or +38 rears ( would +15 in the rears be pushing it?)

good buddy of mines i do trust told me to run 245/30/20 fronts and 275/30/20 rears. I Just want to get another approval from anyone; would this be okay? But then i see people run 245/30 front and 285/30 rears.

Any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks!!

I have always heard/learned that AWD systems require a square setup.

I'll like to read what other members respond to your post with.

Yes that is true. Only if these will came in a 20x10 then i would be all set, but these wheels jump from a x9 to a 10.5 -___- . But i do see alot of 3gs awd people run staggered setups..

I've run multiple staggered configurations on my 3GS AWD for the past 4 years and almost 70,000 miles without any mechanical issues. The most critical thing to do is research for tires selection, and sizing to ensure the overall diameters match both front and rear.

I've ran: 20x8.5/10, 20x9/10 and currently 20x9 and 10.5. I have my fenders rolled front and rear and lowered on BC coils (and yes, it vibrates and wobbles but i don't care ) so your set-up will may need to vary. My current set-up is 20x9 +35 (235/35-20) and 20x10.5 +40 (275/39-20).

I strongly discourage you to run 245/30/20 fronts and 275/30/20 rears as its almost a 3% diameter difference between the front and rear... unless you absolutely trust your good buddy (i'm not here to call anyone out), just trying to help. I am curious to hear how he came to that conclusion for an AWD. I've ran 245/30-20 and 275/30-20 on a G35 RWD Coupe though.

personally i wouldn't go over 1" difference on the widths between front and rear. it makes it very difficult to match the circumferences.

what i would do is get a square setup with different offsets and disc size.

your fine to run staggered, just keep the overall rolling diameter as close as possible. i'd try to stay within 2%

I usually do go with the square setup with different off sets, but this rim doesnt offer the usual x10 i do... I really like the style of this wheel, even though it might cause my transmission if i dont do the correct calculation ...

here are the rims..

Have you considered square setup with spacers in the rear? I assume you are only going for aesthetic purpose...

nice wheels. how about 20x10.5 square? granted with this setup you might rub in the front.

I was looking into 20x10.5 square but thats might be pushing it for me... Lots of mods needs to be done.. I ran a 20x10 square +15 all around last summer and i was already rubbing.. I did see the vossen GS 20x10.5 square and that looked really nice. May i just need to do more research. All i have done to my car is just shaved rear fenders.
