I can buy them for around $76 and install in 45 minutes. If you are happy with the price that is all that matters

I was at the dealer for the latest fuel system recall, and realized I never had the plugs done. They quoted me $247, implying that I was getting about a $100 break. I called my independent shop and they quoted me $310, which sounded really steep. Seeing as how I was almost 30K overdue, (I somehow missed getting it done at 60K), I authorized the operation.

For all my constant whining about Lexus, they did do an excellent wash/dry job. Almost as good as what I would have done. No water drops, and the windows were spotless. They also said my engine was fine, and that I didn't need $6300 worth of work. The service advisor said he's seen plenty of 300s with 200K and no issues, and no rebuild either. Man, it seems like there's nothing but bad news at ClubLexus about the 300, and yet the Lexus guy was like, your car is great shape. Is everyone here just so obsessed with perfection that they look for a reason to rebuild?

Maybe I'm on the pissed off troublemaker list, as I raised the issue with corporate and sent an extremely strongly worded letter to them. I'm sure they don't care because my GS is 10 years old, so I'm poor. They only have love for the new buyer, coming in to lease the latest design nightmare off the showroom floor. Man, I was looking at the RC-F, the GS, the LX, the old LS (slightly freshened but still looks like 2007 to me) and the ES. They were all bunched together, and it's just a mess. Honestly, the ES was probably the best looking of the bunch. The RC-F is so overdone, it's much too heavy, and for $73K you don't get a moonroof! I do admit the current crop of interiors are much, much nicer, especially the GS and ES.

Always pays to get a 2nd opinion, eh? So I feel a little better about the GS today, still wish I had the 350, but I feel confident the 300 can go another 200. I did pass on the $2000 bill to fix the rear sunshade. I thought it a bit excessive.

My spark plugs cost me $140 with labor, I think you got a great deal in lexus. I don't feel any of the new Lexuses are as reliable as they once were. Its a great car for what it is, I am pretty sure same year bmw or mercedes are worse.

Well, you paid nearly $100 less for your spark plug install than me, how did you manage that? Even my favorite independent shop was way, way higher.

We charge an extra hour to do plugs with the ELF. $105 + 1 hour, so whatever that comes out to total. What labor did they charge you?

My independent mechanic charged me $10 for each spark plug labor and they cost me about $12 each part from sewellpartsonline.com. It was all done in under an hour, nothing really had to be removed expect the intake pipe.

Yup, this is a DIY item if you have some basic hand skills a good ratchet, 10 inch extension and the spark plug socket. The DIY info out there on this topic is very thorough FWIW.
