Default Headlight / fog light one works and one doesnt. Odd?

So I installed HID fog lights on my car and one day, the left side stopped working. I thought the bulb burnt out and just left it there. So now, i am just running with just my right fog light on with my headlights.

Well a couple of days ago, my left headlight goes out and my left fog light now works. Something to do with wiring? Anyone know how to diagnose this?

If you do a quick search, you'll find that no one can tell you what it is unless you diagnose it yourself.

You can start off by replacing the bulbs and then move on to ballasts.

FYI: These cars don't like cheap bulbs so use reputable HID bulbs in your car.

Try switching the bulbs from side to side but I'll put my money on the wiring.

The HID bulbs are Philips Ultinons.

So on the driver side, if the HID goes out, the fog light works...then at times, the HID drive light would work, and the driver fog would work. that is what is happening to me. its like one or the other.

Have you checked your battery? Maybe it is weak? I know as I was working on my car with all lights on, all of the sudden the fog light turned off. Then the passenger side headlight turned off. I went to go start the car and found the battery to be weak. Started the car, drove around to charge it up and the issue went away.

What HID kit did you use for your fog lights? Try replacing the fog lamp with normal halogen bulbs to see if it still occurs. Check the connection at the bulbs for all lights. If that doesn't work its time to use a multimeter and check the wiring. Well, that's how I would diagnose it.

xmike714x - Are you certain that the D2S Ultinon is genuine? I would suggest swapping components also to see if you can isolate what is causing the issue.

Are you using a relay harness, or are you powering the ballasts directly from the OE wiring?
