Default 2006 gs300 180k miles for $3500 good deal?

I need some buying advice and opinions. I have a chance to buy a 2006 gs300 with 180k miles on it for 3500. My initial thought was that is a pretty cheap price for this type of car, and what's wrong with it. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet. If I don't get the car it will goto a dealer to be sold for twice as much.
Couple of questions, what should I look for on this car? What repairs or maintenance should I expect with this mileage? Any concerns for suspension wear? Any advice or comments is greatly appreciated. PS I am very mechanical and do all the work on my Ls, but idk if these cars are diy friendly.

I am guessing it burns oil and needs an engine rebuild.

Don't waste your time...06 300's have bad carbon issues and oil burning issues which require engine rebuilds.

is it from a dealer ? if it's from the dealer then forget it. that means they picked it up for like 2000, which means it was probably abandoned due to it being unusable.

but if the car checks out then be ready to drop another 6000 on a new engine and tranny.

Go check it out man... mine has 165k on it and it runs and drives fine, however it has always been dealer maintained.

Okay I finally checked it out, it will definitely need some work. Check engine and VSC light is on. I dont have the codes in front of me but it has 4 engine codes p0420 possibly the catalytic converter, I think p0430 too. Also one engine code is for a shift solenoid, either a solenoid is stuck open or a clogged passage, I'm thinking a failed solenoid.
One code is for a ecm, I got the print outs at home, I'll post them Monday when I get back.
The dash is calling for an oil change, I hope the owner been changing the oil regularly.

Here's my main concern when driving and you push the brake pedal, before coming to a stop the car will jerk and you will feel a hard thump. It happens almost every time. The car is owned by an individual, if I don't buy it he will sell it through his friend's dealership. I see why he want to sell it now. I do plan to have Lexus dealer inspect it. Most likely I won't be buying this car, but I do want to a have shop look at it to see how much it would cost to fix everything.
Also probably not a big deal but when windows are down u can hear a slight ticking noise. The car seem to drive fine and its quite except for the jerk and thump when braking.

Don't let some of these guys brainwash you with all the negativity, just go check it out first or ask to bring it to your mechanic for a full inspection. If it's all good, I'd say go for it. Who cares about the clicks, mine had 320,XXX km on it and it was running perfectly fine.

No one is brain washing him...we are telling him what are known to be issues with that engine. Did you just ignore what he said about the codes? Now...if he has no problem with spend 7k+ to fix the car then good for him.

for 3500 ,lexus has a free engine rebiuld no cost to you and they will give you new 2015 loaner
you could buy that for a winter car and still get a newer gs350,thats what i did, kept my miles low on my newer one,

Could be...get the VIN...look on Lexus website to see the in service date. If its within the 9 yrs then you might get it rebuilt for free but you have several test to pass first so it will be a gamble.

If I could get that car for $3k, I would get it. As long is it's not a salvage title car.
