Finally Part of the Club, bought a 2007 GS 350 AWD
I've only been a member for maybe a week but I quickly made up my mind on what car I wanted. Originally it was a 2008 IS 350, then a 2006 GS 300, and I made my mind up with this 2007 GS 350. The IS 350 was extremely fun to drive, it was fast as hell. But with a carseat in the back and reading other members opinions on once the speed factor wears out, you get bored of the car, I decided to look into the GS's. I had a 2003 Lexus GS 300 a while back and it was one of the most solid cars I've ever had and was really quiet and smooth. So I test drove an 06 GS 300. I liked it a lot especially the AWD and comfort. So then I decided to join this forum and learned that the engine wasn't as advanced as the one in the 2007 GS 350, and with the 07 GS 350 you get newer nav, more HP, same MPG, and a more reliable engine. So I searched non stop for a week and found one in Chicago. I'm from Cincinnati and made the drive up with my fiancé. Had it inspected by Bredeman Lexus in Chicago and they said the only things that were not up to their standard was a bent rim which I can't feel when I drive it, the mirror has a bit of fading, and the rear brakes need to be replaced soon. So overall it is good to go. I'm going to do a whole bunch of preventative maintenance just so that I know exactly when things have been changed.
The only mods that I want to do to it now are tinted windows, real carbon fiber interior to cover up the wood, and to have the rims re-done. I came from a 2007 Acura TL Type S 6 speed and loved it. Had it lowered on Tein SA, Advan rims, and a couple other mods.
I have some questions to ask all of you who have had your GS for a little while.
1. What is the best oil to use? I know some use the dealership stuff, but do any of you recommend anything else?
2. From what I've researched so far, I haven't found any common problems. Are there any common problems that I should look out for?
3. Where do you all order your OEM parts from?

Stock rims on the GS. I have a GS 300 (aka oil burning, rattling POS) with 18"s and they look too small. OTOH, at least the ride will be fractionally better with the 17"s and the taller sidewall profile. It rides like an oxcart on 18"s. I can't imagine what the custom boys feel with their slammed GS rollin' on dubs or whatever.

Congrats!
I did the exact same thing you did by driving a 06 GS300, then doing all of my research here and going to the GS350. They don't last long at dealerships up here in Cleveland, so I'm not surprised you drove to Chicago!
