Default I may have found out why our rear view mirrors suck...

First and foremost: I may be wrong.

I got tired of my crappily looking rear view mirror.

I went on ebay and bought an ES350 version sans Homelink for $35....

After I installed install the ES version, I started examining the GS version I took off.

I found absolutely NO reference to Gentex.(Even when fully disassmbled) Gentex is basically the gold standard when it comes to mirrors. I believe Lexus cheaped out and went with some other maker (Tokirika) that only looks like Gentex.

Anyway, that was my Thursday evening....

It came from the same year car as mine and it is crystal clear. $35 VERY well spent.

When I get home I can post pictures of how cloudy my old one was and all the lines streaking down on it.

Mine looks worse then the one pictured above. Does the ES mirror also have direction display, auto, ect like ours does?

I believe it has the compass but I haven't wired mine up yet. It is for sure auto dimming. My windows are tinted so I don't really care about that feature.

I wired mine up. It does have the compass. Still very pleased with the purchase.

Before I forget:

GS Side: Blue: Ground Orange: Switched Positive

ES Mirror Side: Black/White: Ground Black: Switched Postive

Does it look smaller compared to OEM gs mirror or its just me? Also you are missing garage buttons?

The reflective portion is the same size. Overall it doesn't seem as bulky.

In the first post I did mention it didn't have homelink.

So, did you just give up Homelink or you never used it with the old mirror?

I live in a condo now, so no garage. I can easily reuse the one from the old mirror. It is its own unit inside the mirror that can be removed.
