Default Replacing the engine ecu question

Does anybody know when replacing the ecu that it would need to be programmed?
Or just can I just replace and go. I'm having some issues with trans on my 06 gs430. It's having a down shift clunk/jerk when coming to a stop. I just purchased a used trans, but would like to see if it could be ecu related. I have seen other comments from other member that they replaced the trans, but still the issues were present. Some stated that there was some issues with the ecu holding the trans solonoid longer then the usual. Can anybody have some answers to these issues or need info on replacing the engine ecu or is there a separate trans ecu?
Please help!

Don't think theres a separate tcu. If it was the ecm, with so many people having the same issue. There should of been some sort of software update to address the issue, i would think. I would do a whole scan of the vehicle to see if you have any intermittent faults stored or capture a live shot of when the problems happens to see what the ecm is reading of each of the sensors, such as airflow, speed, rpm etc.. see if theres any of them that seems off.

The engine and trans ecu are the same. Take out the old one and put the new one in and you're done.

Have u replaced before on the gs430? I called lexus and the service guy said u would need to program it. Don't really know whether he new 100% or not.
I need this to be 100%. Don't want to get confused with a different year or model.

If you get one from the same model it will be plug and play...that's what you need to do...Othic is a Lexus mechanic...so I know he isn't steering you wrong...
