Default can the AWD function be shut off ?

I have a 2007 AWD, can I shut it off so I get better fuel mpg economy. I'm averaging 19mpg now.

nope. unfortunately you can't. i used to get that till i put an intake on my car. now im getting 21-22 on main roads.

What kind of intake did you put on? Does it affect the warranty at all? I am still under CPO and also have an 07 AWD

AWD is not something you can just shut off. AWD is a mechanical function.

Dont know its true but many people here say turning off traction control helps with MPG but you lose the chance to assist especially in the winter time

you'd only gain 1mpg or so anyway, owing to lower frictional losses. Actually, given that the AWD adds 250 lbs, and the weight increase alone is a significant factor in the MPG loss, you probably wouldn't even see that.

It operates mostly like an a RWD in most situations anyway.

i void warranties.

haha

no but i can say that an intake will unless its a dealer installed item. but since i know how to work on cars if i ever need to go to the shop for a warranty repair ill just put the stock intake back on

I thought the default was 30/70 front/rear and that it was always sending at least 30% of the torque to the front.
