Default Buying a GS tomorrow. What to look out for.

First of all I have searched and I didnt get much luck on the 3rd Gen GS. The vehicles im going to check out has more then 225K miles. Private seller, clean carfax and everything done at Lexus Dealership which I called and they said nothing but good things. Now what do I look out for, im coming from BMW and I want something more reliable even though it has so many miles. Also minor rebuild at 197K miles. Thank you so much.

First with direct injection. Engine was designed badly, carbon build up. Burns oil. Do a search, if nothing else. But since it already has 225k maybe old owner fixed everything but I would stay away from it. If it's a 430 The u should be good to go

It has been to the dealership ever 5k for oil and air filter. I dont know if thats good or bad but the histrory is good and everything has been maintained and yes its the 300.

Seriously? They changed the air filter every 5k?

Anyways, go on the my lexus website And put the Vin to see every issue it has had. My guess it has had at least one engine rebuild.

Maybe there is one good one out there but I would pass unless it's extremely good deal

Put the vin into mylexus.com and see the history for yourself. I would stay away from gs300 as it was the first model and they have ton of issues, especially the mileage. I would go 2007+ gs350.

If it's a 2006 GS300, DO NOT do it. I almost made the mistake of buying an 06 GS300 until I read all the posts here about the oil burning issue. They're lucky they got 225K out of the car.

Lol relax, you guys make it seem like the 06 was like Armageddon. My first 06 had 350k KM and it the engine was running strong, just regular maintenance and you'll be fine. If you have extra money I would get the 350, I could've used the extra hp and updated nav but I don't regret the 06. Just make sure the engine is solid and accident free. My 06 would've ran for even more KM if it wasn't for another driver(another story).
