Default Transmission Shifting

2008 GS460

When accelerating from a stop sign/stop light it get's stuck in 1st gear for about 10 - 15 seconds before it shift to second gear. I notice this as the engine rev's high and is not shifting. Shifter is in Automatic and not manual mode. Happened at least 4 times in the past 2 weeks. Dealership is unable to replicate the issue and transmission checks out fine. Guess I have to wait until transmission get's stuck in gear before I can bring it back in.

Anyone else had this happen?

Hasn't happened to me yet... have you been doing regular fluid changes or following Lexus USA's ridiculous guideline of never changing the fluid?

Haven't yet. Owned the vehicle for a few months. Fluid change is on my list for the summer.

The summer? That's enough time to destroy what you have left...I wouldn't wait...unless you don't mind possibly having to shell out $4k for a transmission.

Hmmm....50k seems like low mileage for an issue but short trips don't let the fluid get up to temp so maybe is causing a solenoid to stick.

It crazy that all these manufactures are coming with this lifetime fluid crap when the manufactures of the transmission like ZF, Aisin, and Jatco don't recommend it at all...as for me...i'll change it every 60k or 3yrs...they just want you to make it out of warranty so they can say you need a new transmission.

Had the dealer do it at 60k which was 1.5 yrs ago...now I have 66k...id have to go pull the invoice to see if it was a drain and fill or flush. I do remember asking them to just do a drain and fill though...

If it only happens when the car is cold and only on few beginning shift i would say it is fine, but if it happens after long driver while the car is fully warmed up. Then you have something to worry about.
