Default Timing belt cost -- 06 GS430

Hey guys. 06 GS430, 95,000 miles. It's time to have my timing belt changed, and 'm having Lexus do it. I've already done all the other 90k service items (trans, diff, radiator, brake fluid, etc.), so all that's left to bring me up to date on my service is the timing belt.

I know the water pump typically gets replaced as well during this service, and maybe a few other odds and ends if needed (e.g., some pulleys and tensioners), but assuming I'm just having the timing belt and water pump changed, what should I expect to pay at the dealership? I just got a quote, but it seems very high to me, particularly in light of the fact that I've already had all the fluids changed so all that's left is the timing belt/water pump.

Thanks for your help.

Let me see....ummm...dealership labor rates...lol

That's the best answer...but you wasted money changing the coolant if you are about to change the WP

You need to ask them what other parts are being replaced...besides the serpentine belt

Excellent point regarding the coolant flush. I will definitely take that up with the dealership. They knew that I intended on changing the timing belt and the water pump at my next visit. They should have told me not to do the coolant flush at that time. I'm sure they will take care of me. That issue aside though, I'm interested in knowing what would be a fair price for a timing belt and water pump. The price they are quoting me seems very high, although it might have something to do with the charge for a coolant flush which they will deduct from the total. I seem to recall my dealership telling me that it was about $750 for a timing belt change, but that must've been with absolutely nothing else.

That is about right. A few weeks ago I was thinking about trying to get myself into a 430 that had 100k and told the dealer if it hasn't been done, it needs to be. He said he'd do the belt only for a discounted price of $350; half price. So that sounds pretty accurate. I asked him about the water pump, and he was going to charge me half for that as well. So for a new belt and pump was going to be $450.

Make sure they drain the block. A lot of techs will just drain the radiator since that has to be taken out for a t-belt.

I did my timing belt in August at 100k miles.
Bought the deluxe kit from sewell Lexus , $375 I think. And labor was at the indie shop I known for over 10 years. They changed the timing belt, water pump, few pullovers and antifreeze. $350 for labor, $50 tip.

Old belt looked like new. So did the water pump. I'm good for another 100k
