Default looking to buy a 2007 450h...thoughts!!! please!! 1st time Lexus guy

Never owned a lexus before, BMW, Rover, Audi....but never lexus. It has 103000 miles on it. While I like the idea of the hybrid, its not what I looked for, they are asking just under $16,000....its from a big dealership so it makes me feel a little better about the vehicle. Usually when I buy a used car, I like to look in the 70000 mile range, but this seemed like a decent deal. I have owned a 4 runner in the past and know that these engines can run great for many many miles.

basically I am looking for personal opinions about this model, or what guys and gals have heard, good or bad! or if it seems like a good deal....

Thanks in advance, and if I become the owner I can't wait to become part of this Forum on a regular basis!

Hey man! There is actually an area on here which focuses on the GS Hybrid technology. If you click on "Lexus Model Forums" you'll see the link for GS Hybrid Technology. Its nowhere near as active as this 3rd gen GS forum is..but good info in there, as at one point I was wondering about a hybrid as well! Hope this helps!

I would go for it, just make sure that the hybrid battery has been changed recently because now you are out of warranty. They are amazing cars and you will learn alot from them. Let me know if you have any questions

Well let me ask you guys this..I was just browsing car classifieds and saw a Pearl white 07 GS450h,
61.8 on the clock, says it's loaded (no pics) for $17.9. Is a bit over 40k miles worth the few thousand dollar hike??

i would stay away from a 7 year old car with 40k on it.
That means its about 5,000 per year, short trips put more wear.
My car has almost 200,000km and its a 2007 its doesnt look like any signs of letting up,

Good point...
I usually look for low miles..but that is a good point. I typically like for the range to be between 11-12k/yr

Short trips are also bad for the hybrid system, it likes the longer runs.
SHort trips and the battery is always flat, and then the inverter is working over time.
Get it up to 80km/h for about 2 mins cruising and the battery is full. Short stop start in traffic usually runs down batt really quick, esp with A/C on. Doesnt get a chance to generate energy.
So yea def few more KMs is better, generally the one with more than 100,000 will have had hybrid replaced, i knwo my car got replaced at 120,000km and i bought it at 147,000km
