Default DIY Techstream Brake flush on any brake by wire system

After a few evenings of searching on how to flush my brakes on an 06' GS-300 and a 13' CT-200 I stumbled upon a Prius forum with instructions to air bleed a 2010 Prius.
I purchased the Toyota Techstream kit from Amazon and did both cars in three hours. The GS took a bit longer (more steps)
Basically install the software on a 32-Bit windows OS,Using Windows 8.1 on an old Vista machine.
Then load the driver, connect to the OBD-2 port the then run the software.
Click connect to Vehicle and follow the screen shots.
It's part old fashion two man bleed(pump pedal then crack the bleed screw) and part car purging air from the lines electronically.

I just had my fluid all changed, it looked like they used some kind vacuum device to do the whole thing. If you ask me it's not worth the bother to save only $60 or whatever so infrequently.

You are right....most shops either use a vacuum-based system and 'suck' out old fluid at each corner, or they push it out through the reservoir. These options generally require devices. Or you do it the old fashioned way as burny suggested.

After reading about other members losing the ability to have all 4 brakes work and setting off the VCS/Trac warnings then towed to the dealer/ I didn't want to chance it.

Good to know that the old fashioned way still works. I typically pressure bleed with a Motive unit, a one man operation in less than an hour.

The software guides you through the process step by step, and at the end the car does the work for you pushing out any possible air left in the system.

If using an electric brake bleeder do you still have to do it through TIS? I imagine you wouldn't but wanted to see if anyone had experience or if it was trouble free.

Thought techstream would allow for 1-man operation; apparently not
