Default D2S Kit

Hey guys, quick help, my ballast died and I chose not to replace the oem ballast because I didn't want to take out the bumper, headlight etc. So I was anxious and went another route.

I ordered the D2S HID kit from DDM and have all the stuff and wires ready to go..then I realized how am I suppose to control these light? I mean by turning off and on inside my car? I did not think about this situation as I rushed to get the kit to install on my car so I can hit the road again.

Any ideas guys on what I should do now? If there is no other way and the light stays on every time I start my car then I guess I'll just live with it. ( I havent tried installing anything yet though, was planning to install it tomorrow on my day off ) But thought I'd ask you guys for some suggestions first. Thanks!

You have to get to the wires going into the stock ballast as a trigger. Or maybe try tapping into the the small city lights (that come on when you turn on your headlights) to a relay that draws power directly from the battery. ( search 9006 hid relay kit ) also sold at ddm

Damn, sounds like a lot of work lol. No other solution eh? I'm trying to avoid taking out parts to access the oem ballast.

would buying a new a car one of the solution? LOL

Do it right, remove the headlight and install the after market ballast. I am thinking of doing the same thing. The OEM ballast seems weak. But I also want to replace our bulb to use other size.

Anyone try to retrofit with LED headlights? I'm not saying putting in a cheap LED bulb. I mean do the whole headlight to put in an after market LED headlight or replace with another vehicle's LED headlights.

You're right silentm, I will give that a try. But first do you guys think this will work, I will try to tap it into my HID fog wires and use that as a trigger switch? Guess I'll give it a try tomorrow and try both methods.

So I spent about 7 hours today playing around and getting things to work, and it's done! Thank you guys for the advice, I tried tapping into the HID fogs but didn't work and I tried it with the parking light and it works but blew my fuse! haha.

Just wondering, I'm running 55w ballast but the fuse is 15amp, it should be ok right?

I havent tried driving at night yet but will test it out tonight and let you guys know on the vision.
But here is the comparison pic with OEM 35w ballast on 6k Garax vs the 55w 8k, it flushes out the blue and it's pretty white so I like it a lot.

Careful with running 55W ballasts with 35W bulbs... You're overdriving the bulbs meaning that they will burn hotter and burn out prematurely.

What's the inrush current on the ballasts that you're using?
