Default Anyone replaced brake actuator and accumulator?

So my saga continues... ABS and all the other brake/skid lights turn on. Lexus says skid control ecu needs replaced -for 2400. It was getting so hot their computer couldnt diagnose and tell them anything.
Bought part for $75 and installed myself in 15 minutes. Lights still on. Back to Lexus, now they say its the actuator and accumulator - $3800!!!
They also say that they think the bad actuator is causing the ecu to heat up and it might "take out" the current skid control ecu as it too was getting really hot and causing issues.
Honestly dont think my skid control ecu was bad after hearing all of this, but whatever.

SO. HOPING I can buy these 2 things used and install myself or have a mechanic friend install them? Anyone done it before or know anything about it? What do I look for on car-parts.com ?

Thanks guys

I'm also wondering if my car is still safe to drive until it's fixed? I've BEEN driving it for a while now, I figured the dealer would have told me my brakes might completely stop working...Although I did ask the 2nd trip and the guy was like "uhh...I don't think so"- GREAT!

NOBODY is going to tell you a car giving you error messages pertaining to your brakes is safe to drive. I'm surprised they said "I don't think so", they should have said "Absolutely not" and put it in writing.

Gotcha... Thus far, i've been under the impression that only my anti-skid/ABS/VSC functions would not work (wont drive in rain or snow) - but since the brakes are hydrolic they are not effected by this issue?

Thanks! I just found one, didn't save 2200 off of dealer like I did the skid control ecu, but still about 1200!
How hard was the install, is it pretty obvious (the skid control ecu was very easy)?

You buy a new one or used?

Anyone replaced these before? Trying to determine how difficult it is and if there is anything I need to watch out for?
