The only problem I had afterwards was that it shorted my navigation system. They changed a fuse and all seems ok with the exception that the volume on the radio will iintermittenly go off for a few minutes and then turn back on.
That doesn't sound good...I would get something in writing from them because that could be very costly down the road.

It has been very costly. I am told now that my amplifier is not working. They are 99.5% sure that's why i get no sound. So far I was quoted for a new one with labor (not at the dealership) $1000. They are trying to see if they can get a used one. Not happy about all this.

this just happened to me last week ,the wife had the car, ,click click the battery had run down due to the charger not charging it
it will be hard to turn the steering and the battery light will come on ,
so i called the extended warranty company they said they could tow it but they will pay the first $100,they called me back and said to tow it to the dealer its going to cost me $225, so i said f#$@* that then had a crazy idea ,i charged the battery fully up, then i said to myself this is crazy
but jump in my car and drove 40 miles to my dealer on a dead alternater that was crazy, all i had to pay was $100 deductable and they took care of it and gave me a 2015 loaner

now if i did not have warrnty i would do it myself its fairly easy ,theres a hidden bolt on a bracket you cant see,but youll get it,aoutzone and advance autoparts sells them for $150-$170 i cant remember,

tip : order online with advanceauto and get the discount code then pick it up at the store prepay with paypal or credit card you save alot of money

I think mine just failed on the drive home. Everything was going normal on the 20 mile commute home until I noticed the radio started acting up. I pulled off on my exit and noticed battery light on the dash and interior lights dim. I was able to go about 1/8 mile (limping..power steering and brakes were hard)into a parking lot with an auto shop. All lights on the dash came on and car wouldn't re-start. I will have to wait until tomorrow morning to see what the real damage is. I still can't believe an alternator could go without any signs of failure.

2007 GS350 AWD 130k. New battery from Lexus 5k miles ago and all maintenance up to date.

Yep sounds like the alternator. Happened to me in November (faint burning smell for a couple of weeks and one day power steering went out while driving). Paid 850 to replace it. While the alternator was off I paid an extra $62 (labor) to replace the water pump while they were in there.
