What oil are you using?

I have amsoil in mine, but I kind of just subscribe to the thinking that it doesn't matter what you put in (I just put synthetic in to extend OCI) - nobody can really tell the difference so I'm always surprised when people somehow feel passionate about motor oil. You put it in and forget about it, as long as it gets changed once in a while I don't think it matters one bit.

I used Valvoline in my old VW. Its what my dealer would use and was factory fill as well. Never an issue.
Honestly... for the everyday type driving and 5,000 mile oil change interval, Valvoline, Pennzoil, Quaker State, Mobil, Castrol, etc. likely won't make a difference.

How long are you using it for? Dealer put that in my car and I am a bit weary of the viscosity rating being way out form the oil normally used in the GS.
That being said, I have no problems and my fuel economy is up to 9.5L/100 (24.7mpg)

Only just started using it recently at the recommendation of the BITOG guys, no long term report available yet. So far so good. Coolant temps dead normal, no abnormal rise.

Nope....as long as it was well maintained. Synthetics do a better job of cleaning due to having more detergents.
Each engine design affects oils different. An oil that might be great in one engine might be ok in the next but this only comes into play with extended OCIs.
