2006 GS300 VS 2011 Camry XLE !!!
This will be my first car! Trying to purchase today
2011 Camry XLE (36K Miles/ $16,500) / With Navigation , Aux , Sat , Leather Seats
No accident damage (Carfax cost to view online for this vehicle)
2006 GS 300 (67K Miles/ $16,900) (You guys can fill in the blanks lol)
http://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory...&partner=COO_0
What would guys recommend? I'm use to driving my dad's GX470 2003 Truck but we are getting rid of it (was a pain with GAS). But the Camry is nice and rides pretty well/good on gas.
Both are 1 Owner car fax

I'd go with the camry also here... They're great cars to begin with.
If you go GS/IS, go with a 350 GS or a 460 GS. They're great cars IMO, equipped with great engines.
GL!

If you have any testosterone in your body you will get really sick of driving a Camry within a week or so.
Get a gs350. Gs430 or 460 is always good, unless you worry about gas consumption.
You live once, get what you really want.

I don't know what these guys are talking about concerning the carbon issues or that the GS300 isn't worth it. I still have my GS300 and don't have any carbon issues. Maybe it's true for some people, but my GS300 has been a great and reliable car since I bought it. I've also had a GS350. While the GS350 is faster, during most driving conditions you won't notice it. I haven't driven fast since my 20's unless I was overseas, so maybe I''m a bad source to use. If you plan on punching the gas everywhere you go and race people... yes the GS350 is faster. IMO, the GS300 is plenty fast for my daily needs. It's not slow.
Now, one thing to consider is that the GS350 also has a higher resolution navigation screen. By all means, if you can get a GS350 for a little more, then get it. It is a better car, due to the extra HP, bigger brakes, and HD navigation screen. But don't avoid the GS300 because of what these guys are saying. It's a great car and very reliable.
Between any GS300/350/430/450h/460 and a 2011 Camry... I would any of the GS cars. Much better driving characteristics and luxury, and status. Don't buy it to impress other people... I mean it's not even an expensive car anymore, but it will make you feel good getting inside it everyday.
Hope this helps. Good luck with your choice!

hold up about the gs300 he has an oportunity to buy a gorgous in and out with low mile gs300
now if the issue of carbon build up like i had they rebuild your engine for free no matter if its used or etc, then you have a brand new car with the upgraded parts ,my sisters 2012 camry sucks bad,she hates it her check engine light keeps coming on
all you have to do test drive a gs300 with the mark levinson system in it

I have an 06 AWD GS with no problems at. Like some of the recent post from other 06 GS's owners, the carbon build up issue is over rated. All engines suffer from carbon build up and although some may endure more problems than others, who cares because Lexus will rebuild the engine for free.
The 350 has a few more HP but like others have said the 300 isn't a slow car. If you are looking for a fast car then get an E63, Jag XFR, anything with SRT-8 on the back, or if your a Cadillac fan make sure it has a V in the name. Those are all fast cars, Lexus however makes a reliable car with a quite and comfortable ride.
In answer to your question, there is no way in hell I would get a Camry over a Lexus. They may be made by the same company but they are two different beast. Don't get me wrong a Camry is a nice car and I owned one a very long time ago. However it doesn't compare to a Lexus even if it is 5 years older.
And lets face it, you will get more play in a Lexus then you will a Camry! Granted I'm a married man and those things aren't important to me any longer. However when I was younger I always had a nice car and have a lot of fond memories of situations a luxury car put me in!
On the other hand, I can't stand those window GPS devices. So if the GS doesn't have Navigation then I would probably go with the Camry from a technology stand point. Sat and USB docks can be easily added but Navigation isn't that simple.
At the end of the day you have to get what works for you but I wouldn't stay away from the GS because of HP or carbon build concern.

Everytime I get in a rental car on business travel I miss my GS. Yeah, the rental cars are brand new, but can't compare a FWD Toyota to an AWD or RWD Lexus with respect to driving feel. You can't even compare an ES to a GS, so why a Toyota Camry? And I'm not just defending "my car". I upgraded to an Infiinti M35x one time and I did not miss the GS. I enjoyed that car. I enjoyed driving the M35 over my friend's 4GS. But a FWD regular car to a luxury car? No way.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I respect it, but I have serious concerns about the wisdom of the advice given to the OP here.
