Default Trunk Not Opening Electronically

The trunk is not functioning in my 2007 GS 350.
The button in the cockpit is not opening it. The keyfob will not open it, however, I do hear the beep when I hold down the release button. The latch under the trunk wont pop it open either.

THE ONLY WAY to open it is if I manually use the key. Meaning I have to pop the key out of the keyfob and stick it in the hole and turn it. Its kind of embarassing having to do this in such a nice luxurious car.

- I made sure that the button in the glove box is not the problem

- I checked the fuse beneath the driverside cockpit and it is good.

- I tried unplugging the battery/ resetting the computer.

Still no luck.

Any idea what part I will have to replace?

If you are hearing the beep when you go to press and no other method works aside from using the key. Chances are the electric motor to open the trunk is probably dead if the fuse is good.

I have the very same exact problem on my '08 & have also checked everything stated, so it seems like we're in the same boat. Lmk if you get the problem fixed. It drives me absolutely insane having to open it with the key.

Default Trunk release control switch is ... where?

I brought my 2008 GS460 in for service. After that, the trunk wouldn't open w the remote or the button on the dash control panel. Just with the key. Sound familiar?

WTF? So I read the manual. My findings might help anyone who has the same problem.

Open the glove compartment. On the GS460 -- probably the same for other models -- there is a small button near the back, upper LH side of the opening. If it has accidentally been pushed to the wrong position, none of the trunk controls will work. To fix, just push it once more, and try again. If everything works properly after that -- wahoo -- that was your problem.

In my case, without my knowing about it, I think the service people opened the glove compartment, took out the manuals for the car and for the Nav (they needed to read something I guess), and without realizing it, they had hit the button and turned off the trunk mechanism. Nobody noticed until I got it home.

Works fine now.

Good luck / Cheers / Lexleezard

I had this same exact problem, tried the button with no luck, then I got the wiring manual and powered the trunk motor directly with a 9V battery and it worked. Put everything back together, disconnected the negative pole on the battery for 10 minutes and that fixed it. Good luck
