Default Awd replacement tires

So I'm getting my run flat tires replaced on my awd gs350 and I've been getting some crazy information from Firestone. He is saying I should get run flats, but I wanna switch to just normal continental or Bridgestone since I heard they provide a much better ride. My question is do I need run flats on a awd car? Thanks for any help.

I would never go back to run flat tires. I really like the Continentals that are on my Mercedes. I have Dunlops on my GS and they are decent, but not quite as good as the continentals.

I think the reason they recommend run flat is because if that's what your car originally came with you won't normally have a spare tire. But anyway, I recently replaced my run flat with Bridgestone potenza tires and the ride quality and road noise difference is amazing. Get non run flat, you won't regret it

because hes a salesman just trying to get more money. as mentioned above with the run flats, you probably do not have a spare tire, hence another reason why hes pushing towards the run flats. imo the run flats make a lot of road noise. you'll be fine switching to a non run flat as many members have.

My firestone here has a big sign on the wall that says they will not install non-run flat tires on a car that came with run flat tires. I guess they are scared of getting sued. I drove right on over to discount tires and got my conti DWS installed without issue. Even the Lexus dealer here will take off your run flats (if you buy the tires fron them of course)

sadly in todays world you just have to make sure you cover your butt. im sure someone would come back and try to sue because they were unaware they did not have a spare.

Just ordered a set up GY Eagle Sport A/S. Took advantage of Discount Tire $100 off $400 or more on their ebay site.

GY also has a $40 rebate. Tires came out to be $424 shipped. Will add $100 for install at DTire.

They are replacing the Mich Pilot A/S which are awesome but are replaced w a newer lesser liked version. I started w runflats and hated them. Dealer switched em for free at 12,000 miles as they were causing alignment issues.

Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S that I put on my wife's car are excellent I fail to understand why they discontinued them.

Something is wrong with people who want their tires to be made of hard plastic that lasts 100K km or more.... Other Michelin tires I had have failed to deliver on their reviews (Energy MxV4, Destiny MxV4, Xice Xi2), I have been happy with Yokohama's Avid EnVigor (don't use them in the slightest bit of snow, otherwise car drives like it is on rails)

True story. Their computer legitimately won't let them sell non-runflat tires to any car that originally came equipped with them.
