all you do is first have the lexus dealer do your oil change, then when your down 2 quarts go back in and tell them you almost ran out of oil can you check this for me,then they will do an oil consuption test , now you get a new motor rebuild, you dont need a letter, just have them change the oil

Engine tear down cost
I have a situation, where my 2009 Lexus IS250 (64K) has been burning oil more than it supposed to and gets low oil sign on the display. We bought it pre owned in 2012, so we have a warranty good for 3 years which will expire very soon. My dealer did the consumption test and said its burning oil and needs the engine rebuild which warranty will cover it.
However the issue is dealer needs to tear down the engine and if the Lexus warranty inspector does not approve the claim after inspecting the engine for whatever reason, I have to pay $3700 to put the engine back together(Without even fixing anything). This sounds really weird and does anyone know if this is a normal process?

Again? LOL!!! I'm glad you are happy...what's that 2 or 3? Once again...the issues are completely unrelated...but whatever makes you tick...lol
Why don't you start a poll and ask those with the 350 how many have oil consumption issues. Also do it by original owners and 2nd+ owners. If you won't I might...I think it would be interesting to see those results.
You must have never owned a German counterpart...now those have oil burning issues.

Thank you Gotcha350 and verly6565.
I have been talking to my dealer for the past week and was getting the run around but finally they said, they spoke to Lexus corp and got the approval to waive the fee. It will take few days to get the car ready.
Thank you once again for feedback.

If you have a 2006 GS, it's probably too late to get in on the 9 year Customer Service Program. They cut me off because although my car was a 2006, it was built in 8/05, and thus conveniently outside the 9 year window when I took it in for evaluation in November last year. Lexus corporate was not helpful whatsoever, other than telling me my 2006 car was in fact older than 9 years old by a couple months in 2014. The most infuriating thing is reading post after post of customers going YAY, got my FREE engine rebuild! But Lexus told me to **** up a rope. And I have owned the car since 20,000 miles, bought it 2 years old in absolutely mint condition. Maintained to perfection ever since. Then I have to read stories of people buying some ragged out 50,000 mile beater and traipsing off to the dealer to get a free engine because their car was inside the 9 year window.

And no, I'm not happy that a car that stickered for $50K new (and that's almost 10 years ago now), a luxury car built on the Lexus reputation for making extremely reliable cars that ran perfectly for 20 years and 300K miles, is burning oil after just 100K.
I don't care what German cars do, I know they have expensive issues, that's why I bought a Lexus.

Toyota is no different than any other manufacturing company who builds engines. Yes, their 4GR-FSE and 3GR-FSE have issues with carbon build up as do all DI engines without port injection to wash the valves. D-4S helped to remedy the carbon issue.
This is not the norm for Toyota but the days of bragging about your 300k LS or GS being problem free are gone...the quality is not the same...too many metrics are trying to be met and the envelopes are being push too far. Back then they made the cars to last because people kept them longer...now most people don't want to spend more than two years in the same car...the popularity of leasing...oh well

Is this only for those with a warranty through lexus or is this treated as a recall? If that's the case would I be too late? Right now I don't notice any issues but I just reached 100k

The 9yr warranty was given just for the issues with the 2006 GS300...not part of or due to any recall.
