Default 2006 Lexus gs 300 Key not detected **Already changed batteries**

Hey everyone,

So I already replaced my batteries on both keys twice. Once from Auto zone and a few days later I changed them at the Lexus dealership. My keys will not respond when I use the remote. I will have to manually open the door or hold the key next to the door handle and wait for a minute or two (if I am lucky) so that I can access my car. Once I get in my car I would have to hold the remote to the start button so that I can start my car. I looks like the key fobs are not responding to the car. I used to be able to walk by my car and my side mirror lights would go on, but now it won't even do that. My remote is useless. I also took my car to the dealership and they wanted to rip the car apart t see what the issue was and on top of that they wanted to charge me for a new car battery. The also stated that they reprogrammed my keys but they still wont work. My car was working fine until I started using my spare key. I am so lost so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.

Yes It does. Now both keys don't work. The dealer wants me to pay for 5 more hours x $140 to just look at it.

That's ridiculous!

Try resetting your battery (disconnect the battery for 15-30 minutes, and then reconnect).

almost $1k in diagnostics.... That sucks!

TBH jtran, you're the first I've ever heard of this experience brother....

Checked your fuses? There's an ECU fuse that you might have tripped somehow and popped the fuse.

I'm having this same problem now, did you ever find a fix?

Sometimes the key works and sometimes it doesn't. I changed the battery and it didn't make a difference.

5 Hours Diag? I worked as a service writer for 12 years at Lexus and I've never heard of that. Are you sure you just aren't mistaken?

The third Gen GS's are easy to program the keys and The Dealer will charge .5 to program it. First I would make sure it's not something simple like the battery is in upside down ( got yelled at by a customer for 10 min. once saying there car is a lemon because of this) then ask the dealer to clear out the key programming and re-do it. Never replaced and ECU for keys. Has the windshield been recently replaced or have the door panels been out lately?

I had a new XM tunner and antenna reinstalled on my car. The old antenna was on the windsheild and the new one is wired through the molding at the top of the rear. Bottom line, yes both rear and fron wind sheilds have been tweaked recently. Why would that have something to do with it?

On a lot of the vehicles the receiver for the wireless key is in the rearview mirror or the windshield. We had this happen once to a SC430 that the windshield installer forgot to plug the wiring harness back in. Do you have an auto dimming mirror with a compass in it? If so check and see if it's working

The sensors that detect that the key is in or near the car don't use the glass antennas, those are just for the remote control features. There are proximity sensors inside the doors and trunk to detect when you walk up to the car with the key.

Default Battery changed, & key isn’t responding.

I’ve recently changed my battery in key fob. However my key fob isn’t responding to my car. Nor does it say key not detected. I’ve had to unlock the door with my key, & of course the alarm goes off. Then I’ve also noticed on the driver door the control panel for the windows, & unlock isn’t working. The window only lets down from the driver with the switch! This has just happened, & it’s so frustrating. Please help
