Default headlight out / need advice

I own a 2008 GS 350.

Noticed this am my right headlight is out.

However, when I put on the brights it works.

It appears the piece that covers the bulb is missing.

Need advice to replace / get fixed.

Approx cost at Lexus dealership?

Should I consider going to Toyota?

Thanks.

When the headlight on my '07 went out, replaced the bulb with OEM (not cheap). It worked for a couple of days then went out again. Dealer said the ballast was bad and needed a new one. Dealer would not change the just the ballast (which can be done), they wanted to change out the whole headlight assembly at the tune of $1200 just for the headlight assembly not including labor. I would look to see if you can find a used/salvaged headlight assebly since an internal piece to the headlight assemblyon yours has come off.
Best of luck!!

Your brights? High beams? That's a different bulb than your low beam...Replace your hid (low beam) bulbs, phillips are your best shot (oem). This isn't too difficult, you can find the stickie on DIY section. The dealer will probably charge about $100 for bulb replacement labor sans parts.

I just replaced mine. It was doing the same thing. I bought some from IDJMtoy.com and my driver's side still did it. Several guys on here told me it was cheap bulbs. And to get GARAX bulbs on eBay. They were like $80 for 2. Had them in for 3 days now and neither side have gone out yet.

Go with GARAX bulbs on eBay.

I just replaced mine with the 5k ones from XenonDepot. I had the same problem - my passenger side would ignite and then go out after a few minutes. The XenonDepot ones are definitely a whiter light than the OEM Phillips, and throw a nice crisp white light. I was hesitant to go with the 6k as I wanted maximum output. So far, very happy with these over the more expensive dealer ones or springing for the Ultinons.

There is nothing terribly difficult about changing them, but it's tight to get to everything - expect to get your fingers and hands scraped up a bit.

If you switch the bulbs with one another (from each side to the other side) you can find out if it's the bulb or the ballest. If after switching the bulbs the other side goes out its the bulb if the same side goes out its the ballest.
