Default trim around roof

Let me begin by saying I have no clue what this trim or molding is called. It goes from hood to the trunk and runs beside the windsheild and rear window and all the way across the top.

Well mine is peeling off. By this I mean the "sticker or decal" that lexus decided to use instead of paint is peeling off and now my car looks like crap. Does anyone know the name of this part or how to remove it so I can go have it painted? The dealership offered no assistance besides charging me 1200 to have them taken off and "new ones" put on that have the same sticker piece on them. I told them no thanks.

Mine did the same thing on my 07 and I took a razor blade and just trimmed the loose parts off. Barely even noticeable now unless you get up close. Couldn't see spending $700 to buy two pieces of moulding.

They come painted from what I understand and can be had from sewell Lexus with your Cl username login for $300 something a piece: http://lexus.sewellparts.com/oem-cat...S350-2007.html
Part #'s 75555D and 75555C.

you can just pull the trim off. You can have them repainted for cheaper, but I don't know how durable it will be compared to the foil.

Did you wax the mouldings and keep them maintained?
I wonder if it has to do with very cold weather, which can unstick adhesive. Mine is parked outside all day, and it has not peeled yet

It happens, thank god not to me yet....

But I would have your local stop alcohol it, sand it down, and repaint it for ~$300.

Actually, it would be dope, and different if you wrapped it in CF lol!

That's if you're into the sportier look..... Not the typical CF sticker that's painted squares, but the CF overlay style wrap.

If have a problem report it to Lexus. They say this is not happening to cars but it is happening a lot. I was once again refused assistance but this time I was told I had not serviced my car enough through them to be qualified. Needless to say I let that poor woman know what I thought of there so called customer service.

I had both side roof moldings peel since last year (2013) but I thought it was "wear and tear". I finally got sick of the appearance and I went to a respectable car body-shop and they advised to check with the dealer/manufacturer on quality control...

My car is a 2007 GS350.

I just got off the phone with a Lexus "Customer Service" representative and after many phone call attempts, 2 dealership visits, I received a "ah huh, I understand, I'm sorry Mr. blah-blah, but you will not receive any assistance. Have a great day". In other words, sucks for me.

It happened to mine before 50,000 miles and the dealer replaced it under warranty at the time... Now I have about 109,000 miles and I just noticed it the other day. It is peeling away slowly and looks cheap as hell. I am thinking about removing them and maybe using some vinyl wrap... Has anyone tried this ? Do you think it would look ugly if I wrapped it in flat black ?

Mine is an 08 & unfortunately is happening to me also. Started on both fronts & then the driver side rear. Mine got so bad it started flapping on the highway on a road trip

Hopefully I'll have the time to remove it entirely & have them painted soon.

My local dealer goodwilled both of my drip rails with 76k miles and no remaining warranty.

Here's what they looked like prior to replacement:

Mine still looks perfect and it's an 06. Black. If it ever starts doing this I'll just scrub off as much as I can and spray 6 layers of plastidip over it and call it a day.

I would be nervous trying to remove the trim, I bet it will break like nobody's business unless you spend 3 hours on it.
