Default Attention Wheel Guru's, in need of advice

Hello to all!

So I'm deciding on buying wheels soon, to get ready for next summer for my 07 3GS AWD. I really want to do a square setup which I'm leaning pretty heavily due to I can rotate my rims/tires around. I have 3 set ups in mind. Please comment on if this will do any damage, will it fit, how much work is needed? I read a lot of threads, people are saying just shave the rear fenders, some say do and do not roll the fenders due to wrinkling/damaging the paint. May I please get some input.. Also will these offset work with my AWD?! Thank you in advance!

Setup:
1. 20x10 et 25 front
20x10 et 25 rear
^^ Ideally on what I want to do square setup, kind of aggressive look.

2. 20x10 et40 front
20x10 et 25 rear
^^ deeper wheel / staggerish aggressive look

3. 20x10 et 25 front
20x11 et 10, 20, 28 rear
^^ BOSS aggressive look LOL. (possible to run on AWD/ will it fit?)

anything will work. with those 3 setups you will need to roll and/or shave

Nice, I read a lot that people don't even roll the fronts at all and fit lower offsets than what I want.. is that true? and the rear fenders I guess it has like a 1/4 inch lip on the inside that people shave off. BTW those 3 setups, it wont ruin the awd system or cause any damage, right?

as long as you keep the overall diameter the same for the front and back, you'll be fine.

theres more to it than just offset, those are pretty wide wheels so im pretty sure you'll have to roll and/or shave. i had my rear fenders rolled but i know its frowned upon and its pretty to shave. we have thread for it as well

Awesome, I will have to look into that. BTW im kind of a noob to wheels setup. Can you explain a little bit more in keeping overall diameters the same for the front and rear? maybe such as running (what I want to do, if possible) 245/35/20 all around...

correct. typically when you run a staggered setup its with different width wheels. even if your not awd you want to try and keep the overall diameter the same for both the front and back (ie match the tire sizes front and back). majority of staggered users run a 245/30/20 up front and a 285/25/20 in the rear. keep in mind this is just a basic example as the sizes will depend on the size of the wheel your running.

fyi for the awd, you want to stay away from the 245/35 as its bigger than the stock tire size. its 3% bigger and if you go too large you run the risk of damage to the center diff. stick with a 245/30 as its pretty close to the stock overall tire size.

GREAT!!! I will definitely put that in my notes to run 245/30! I do not want to damage anything, so its good to be safe than sorry. Thanks for all your help.

Why do you want to put such a wide set of wheels to the front, most likely youll rub like crazy going that wide. You would for sure have to rip out the plastic fender liners.

I have awd 20x7.5 (245/35/20) and 20x10 (275/30/20) with no issues, I did have minor rubbing in the front, but that has been taken care of.

I only wanted to go that wide in the front because I wanted to do a square setup so it can match the rears. Such as for me to rotate tires around.. Will it be that big of an issue of rubbing? People on the CL forums that I read, were fitting those with no problems.... This should be a concern then, correct?

id advise against that. i removed my liners before to fit larger wheels on and eventually with rain, i got water in my headlights. pita to remove too.

well keep in mind that if you have directional tires as well, you can only swap the front and back on the same side.

That's correct and understand that. Do you think the 20x10 up front is to much?

If you buy non-directional tires you can rotate left to right tires. 10" wide front wheels you will rub, unless you do major fender modding.

Plus 10" wide is more strain on the front diff, and ball joints with AWD.

so would 20x9 possible et 15, 25, 35; be more realistic?

7.5-8" wide front is the widest I would go on the front, 8" rears on a 3GS looks weird to me. Like I mentioned you are able to still rotate the wheels with a staggered setup
