No Aux in?
I search and couldn't find any answer.
I would like to hook up my Nexus 7 ( Android) no 3G only Wifi to my car sound system, this using the regular 3.5mm stereo cable.
Can't believe this car doesn't have aux in for other units?!
I like listening to audio books when driving. .... most of them in the larger files exceeding 6 cd's.
I spend an average of 18 hours driving a week for servicing my clients.
Don't want to have cd's laying around in the car.
What can I do in order to join this the audio system in the car and my nexus?
Ps. Btw, I bought this amazing car just a week ago, it has all the features related to the ML sound system but it is not stamped on the stereo unit?
See this attached picture from another posting in this forum
Is this even possible?
Any answer and input is highly appreciated.
Thank you

Aside from that, the 2006-2007 FOR SURE, doesn't have aux input. Your best bet is to get the Vaistech unit. You do however, need to familiarize yourself with your car. One way I know you can tell whether or not you have ML, is to look in your dashboard speakers, if you have two speakers on each side, that means you have a 3-way system from your front stage, resulting in the fact that you indeed have a ML system.

I'm using the grom audio unit. No complaints at the moment. I currently have about 47 folders and I flip through them like cd's in a cd changer. They recently added the ability to play any audio through your android phone pending you're on jellybean or greater. Tested it out today and it works flawless. Plug in micro usb cable to the usb cable off of the unit. Open pandora or any other music app and it plays through car speakers. Higher quality sound than an aux stereo plug IMO.

you have an 06 so no you would not have an aux input as those started in the 08+ models. i just used a cassette tape for mine. gotta make use of antique equipment somehow.
also regarding your "ML" system, check the bottom right of the radio, you should see this. if not you probably have the premium system.

Fry just had a sale on this USB thing. 1 port but it's also $1 shipped. And Meritline have the 2 port for I think $3 shipped. I can't find one that is flush with our cig so I can close the lid when not use.

Don;t need to put the adaptor there. I use the aux power port that;s inside the armrest (back end).

No, some of us are just getting off subject on the matter. They're swaying towards USB chargers for your phone/mp3 player.....
From the looks of it, you have a few options actually:
-Prestigious Society's PnP kit
-Vaistech's PnP kit
-Grom's PnP kit
-iSimple's PnP kit
-Tape deck--->3.5mm kit.
Take your pick OP, and GL!
P.S. the 4 options above takes some elbow grease and dedicated time (~30 minutes approx.) to install, the last option is if you're looking for something cheap and don't care for wires. It's simply push the tape in the tape deck and hit play on your phone or mp3 player.

I tried a tape-3.5mm and they are all garbage - same with fm modulator. I would HIGHLY recommend the vaistech kits- Just got one installed on my 07 450h and it is awesome... Completed integrated to OEM system, use your phone on the OEM touchscreen - audio and video look and sound great, highly recommended - well worth the $

Was it a bad experience for you with the 3.5mm to the tape conversion? It honestly sounded the best IMO. I have the vaistech, and I don't know if it's just me, but mp3 playback isn't as nice, not as much bass response, the sound is very flat, and it sounds very "mono" like vs "stereo".... Then again i'm using a 3.5mm (I've used ZUNE, SGS II phone, IPOD, IPAD, and IPHONE) to RCA conversion.
Any reccomendations otherwise I'd love to hear, i'm willing to do the switch
