Smile Gs450h vs Mustang

I'm talking about either the V6 or GT Mustang. Both would be 2008. What do you guys think? Which would win?

I don't think when comparing these two cars that speed is really what separates them. Completely different cars and bought for completely different reasons.

what are you trying to compare? 1/4 mile or top speed?

I would bet on the GS too. But I think the GS is also weight more due to the Luxury part.

jre002, rabbit and turtle are different but doesn't mean they can't race. LOL

I honestly have beaten camaro ss and the 2007 mustang gt in my Lexus gs350 awd. These cars are sleepers, they have a lot of power but then again it's a more expensive version of the Camry so people don't think they are fast. 0-60 in 5.4 seconds is pretty quick.

Lol ok. Is this a troll post? My previous car was a bolt on ls1 z28. The z28 would smoke any 3gs in stock form...nevermind boltons haha.

Lol I call BS on that too. The only way a Camaro SS loses to a GS350 AWD is if he's a poser, and bought the SS from Ebay and glued it on himself. Also, 5.4s 0-60 is for a regular 350 not the AWD, which is heavier. Finally, last I checked the Lexus website, the 350 isn't quite that fast. It was more like 5.7s.

Yeah, I don't think a GS is faster than an SS, but I may disagree with you about the AWD vs RWD. In 0-60, the times are probably very very close. Like, close enough that the only way to distinguish between the two in a race is reaction time by the driver. AWD will get the jump on the RWD during the launch. We are talking about a fraction of a second. Also, with respect to the posted 0-60 times, I've seen it reported as anywhere between 5.3-5.7s depending on the magazine or website, so you can't really call B.S. on the stats.

Road and Track lists the 2007 GS 350 AWD as 5.3 seconds.

Not disagreeing with you that the SS is faster on paper, but with a bad driver in the SS and a good driver in the GS350... you never know.

AWD doesn't help the GS with acceleration one bit. In fact, it hurt it like I said. The reason it doesn't help it at all is because the car doesn't produce enough torque, and it's too heavy already. So, why does Lexus offer an AWD? It's for those who drive in the snow, or icy condition, and a RWD would not fare well in those condition. Lexus did NOT offer it to improve acceleration. Now, AWD would come in effect in the Porsche 911 Turbo, and the Nissan GTR. With the lightness of those types of cars, and the amount of torque they can put out, AWD would definitely come in handy. So, I stand by my statement that AWD would hurt 0-60 times due to its extra weight.

As mentioned, I called BS on the GS beating the SS. The times I quoted was from the Lexus website. I subscribe to R&T, and MotorTrend since the early nineties, and I have always seen R&T posting very optimistic 0-60 times.

But yeah, if you're sitting next to someone at the lights, and when they turn green you stomp on it catching the other driver off guard, you could potentially beat him. The 0-60 times between these cars are only different by a second or 2, so if the other driver reacted too slowly (because he didn't even know you wanted to race), then you have gotten a huge advantage. But, in those instances, you can't post on here that you have beaten him.

And like I said, on the launch, the AWD will help. In a short race from 0-60, it would most-likely negate the weight disadvantage for that short race. I did not say that the AWD helped with acceleration whatsoever. I said launch specifically.

Lexus itself lists the 0-60 times 0.1 seconds apart. In a 0-60 race, that is too precise of a difference to differentiate between the two. I'm not talking about a situation where one guy takes off and the other guy takes off a second later. Even if two people attempt to take off at the same time, it is still too close. At least between the AWD and RWD GS 350.

If we are talking about the GS 350 and the SS, the SS driver would probably have to mess up.

Ahhhh.....Lexus GS and Mustangs, two cars near and dear to my heart...

A 2008 Mustang V6 should be easy prey for a GS450h, I think. If memory serves, they only have about 210hp. They may be a bit lighter than the GS, but the GS450h has well over 100hp more than that.

Any Mustang GT newer than 2005, however, should not have a problem beating a GS.

Of course, drivers vary, and anything can happen, but all else being equal, a 2008 Mustang GT should be able to beat a GS450h.

Although others have been quick to call BS, I'll go out on a limb and 'believe' shivam.

His statements are vague enough that we have no idea what happened. For example, did
the SS or GT driver know they were 'racing' against the awd GS? How long was this race?
If it was very short, maybe shivam just got the jump on the other driver. If it was at high speed
on the highway, maybe shivam was just crazier than the other driver.......

Very vague.....anything is possible.
