Default Advice Buying 2007 GS 450h

I put this in the Hybrid Section but notice not as many users go to that forum.

The link is below but saying that,
WOULD you buy a 2007 GS 450h KNOWING hybrid battery had to be replaced? SHOULD be under warranty since under 8 yrs and 100k miles. NO lights but a diagnostic code suggesting reading Hybrid Battery Pack Deterioration.

Not from Lexus Dealership but would replace at Lexus.
Please read my other link if you have time and YES, I am new to the forums.

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/hyb...ioriation.html

THANKS!!!!

Honestly I would make them replace that before you sign any papers, it should be under warranty as it's a 8 year warranty, how many miles currently on the vehicle.

68k miles. They are selling as is. They will let me take it to Lexus for diagnostic though but doubt they will replace battery as they are not associated with Lexus. That's why I was requesting advice...IF under warranty is it worth it to buy vehicle and just have lexus replace on my own?

I bought a 2008 Lexus gs450h earlier this month @ 68k miles. The battery hasn't been replaced, but I still have peace of mind knowing that it's covered for 8yrs/100k. If I were you I would buy the car and then replace the battery at a Lexus dealership.

wow and battery is deteriorating, I'd get it checked by a Lexus dealership and tell them to lower the price because of that.

Yeah so far Lexus has been very helpful thru my ordeal. So far no charges like diagnostic fee, but my battery will be installed tomorrow and I can let you guys know more after installation. I've been actually driving everyday all last week without the hybrid system and getting 16L/100km.

Basically if everything else looks good take the deal...I think they may reflash the cpu too I read somewhere on this forum so the battery last longer this time around...

JJ604, let us know how install goes.
Thanks everyone for input. DECISIONS, DECISIONS.... I just wanted to sleep on it and will call dealer tomorrow to see what/if they are willing to negotiate.

UPDATE: I walked away from this deal. The dealership actually lowered price to try and unload car. I asked if I could take to Lexus to have them evaluate the diagnostic code. The dealer said, "We cannot have you taking this car all over town". I told him I took it to my mechanic first to do a look over and with this code beyond his capability. He said we have a 3-day money back guarantee. That was enough for me. Granted, battery would have been covered under warranty but their attitude was just too much. I appreciate all the responses and hope to be on the forums more.

ON the brighter side, just bought a 2007 GS 350 with the works....very happy.

I just bought a 2007 GS450h from a Lexus dealer and they did 146 (?) checks and said it needed new wipers and although the hybrid battery passed it wasn't up to spec so they replaced it under warrantee for free.
Great service I thought.
