Local Lexus dealer wants over $300, which I guess isn't crazy, still kills me when I could buy a complete set of headlight housings, bulbs AND all new parking lights for my Maxima for that kind of money

What for a whole new Lexus GS headlight housing they charged you $300 to install or for parts and install.

Sorry - no - just a burned out HID bulb.
$306 parts & labor, but I enjoyed some delightful pastry and beverages while waiting in their very sumptuous lounge (this is a huge new dealership just a couple years old)

i bought bulbs from nigel-jdm parts (CL vendor) on a group but for genuine phillips and had the dealer put them in for me. They charged $50 for labor on both.

Oh well next time don't pay that you could have got the Philips Utilinon 6K bulbs and installed them yourself or even had someone else install them for cheaper than that like $200 less cheaper.

Wow so like 90% cheaper, LOL - yeah that sounds pretty good, however what is the process of installation? Does it involve taking apart half the front end of the car?

haha I love how they charge you for "labor". The whole process of replacing the bulb couldn't take more than 5 minutes, and that includes washing your hands after your done.

Yeah, Garax or Putco bulb cost you $40-$70 tops for the pair.

Actually I believe you have to take off all the engine covers and even remove the intake to get access to the passenger side bulb. Although it's not a "5 minute" job, it's still fairly simple and definitely NOT something you should be paying the dealer to do. I replaced both bulbs in my last IS with aftermarket 6k bulbs at $60 ea and did it in under an hour. Doing it again I could probably do it in 1/2 the time

Engine cover must come off and it takes only a few minutes, the bulbs faces the side it doesn't face forward which I found weird lol.
