Default Am I the first with this exhaust leak?

I went to get my brakes checked by a local shop today. And I showed him that loose ring underneath that you can see has rusted off of the pipe cause it makes an annoying tingling sound. Then he explained to me that these cars are prone to getting exhaust leaks from the moisture getting in between the pipe and the shield. He raised up the shield slightly and showed me where the exhaust was leaking. You can see a small hole in the picture from the clip but there is a bigger one under the shield starting out. He was a master at the local lexus dealership for over 15 years so he knows these cars in and out. Has anyone had this issue? Did lexus fix it under emission warranty? He told me to go in there and complain. Cause a buddy of his that still works there said they are now making a tsib to change the whole pipe. Before I take it in I just wanted to see if anyone else has had this done or fixed under warranty. As he says they should change it out under warranty.

How much miles are on the car? I also had one of the ring come loose and rattle like crazy, we removed it and installed a brand new one. Does the exhaust leak make noise inside the cabin at all?

I had the same exact thing happen to me. Took it to my muffler guy and $25 bucks later as good as new.

He ended up taking off the heat shield he explained to me that the shield was helping the exhaust rust quicker and that the exhaust pipe metal is really thin. He removed the clamps and the shield and just welded it solid.

Car has 99000km on it. If your parked and you open the door and press the gas you can notice it.

So for the record this is not covered as part of the emissions warranty?

Two of mine rusted to pieces, I replaced them... I suspect there is something going on under there but it hasn't caused any kind of issue so... haven't done anything about it.

Lexus once told me there was a leak causing an O2 sensor code, but I fixed it and had nothing to do with the O2 sensor itself or leak since I did nothing to the exhaust. They did not offer me any kind of warranty fix for it, just said take it to a muffler shop (which told me they heard no leak) or they could replace the whole exhaust for like 2 grand... so yeah either it's not covered under emissions warranty or they just didn't feel like helping.
