Default Trunk not working!

So an other trunk problem....

Doesn't open by remote, driver's panel or trunk switch itself. Only the key will work.

Valet switch is turned off

I've got a UK version and the manual helpfully tells you where the fuse boxes but doesn't give you a list of what they do! They like you to take it to the dealer.

Before I start getting a multimeter out and testing circuits and relays I just wondered if anyone knew of anything obvious or the actual fuse location for the trunk open/close system.

Oh..btw. There's no obvious power strip/conduit going to the trunk lid, how do they do that????

fuse box pics are:

I know you said the valet switch has been checked, but attempt to toggle it once, and check the trunk, and then toggle it again and try the trunk again. I thought I was crazy once because the trunk wouldn't open and I NEVER use that switch, so I brought it to the dealer and they just toggled it a few times and then it fixed the trunk lol. I am the only one who drives the car so I still to this day have no idea what happened but all that matters is that it works now.

I think they run the cords through that flat belt btw, only obvious way I can think of that they get power to the trunk...

If you have done all the above, I would open the trunk with the key. Undo the lining and reach to the motor with a volt meter test to see if you are getting power.

Here you go! I dont think you would need to replace that fuse box ($500), im sure there is a way to fix it.

Did you check to make sure the button in your glove box didn't get pressed? It has happened to me many times. I start to rage, check my glove, sure enough button is off for trunk...

yep valet switched checked (several times)
Took apart trunk lid lining (pictures below), power comes up through the 'luggge' belt strip on left, very clever.
Disconnected the lock/unlock mechanism and checked for voltage change in the connector. Volts were 1.64 and never moved when remote fob button or console switched was pushed.

(it was 1.25 volts before I realised that the strike plate has a switch. You push down, make sure mechanism is in lock position before volts then increase to 1.64).

I even took apart the gear mechanism motor to check the contacts - all read zero. So power is not getting through the mechanism.

Right now I'm thinking of a relay problem but looking at the TSIB above it looks to be a pain to get to. I'm out of warranty (75k, 2006) plus Lexus in the UK aren't as nice as your dealers in the US.

If anyone knows the exact relay connection I'd be grateful.

Here's the pics I took.

PS - checked the fuse bank in trunk, all ok.

thanks for the file. I've found where this box is on the LHD cowl side, I notice there's a trunk open fuse. Living in hope that this could be it gut feeling says no and it's a new junction box. Doesn't look particularly cheap!!

Wondered what went wrong with the original box to trigger a TSIB warranty?

well it's working.

Despite taking apart the trunk lining, the gear motor mechanism, multi meter the harness it turned out to be a..........

lose fuse!!!

Turns out the fuse mpx-b (see 2nd photo up top) had somehow wriggled lose, not out.

Pushed it back in and presto, all working.

To explain this, where I live has a lot of potholes and the constant bumping must have moved it.

I'll get my coat now and leave
