Default How to replace drivers side mirror assembly?

So,

After replacing both side mirrors with used units I finally have mirrors that are safe to use. Until tonight when some swine hit the drivers mirror and smashed it.

Thanks buddy, appreciate it.

So I have an extra side mirror, but I didn't install these. To replace it does the door panel come off? If someone has posted a DIY I'd appreciate it.

I did spend a lot of time today searching the archives with no luck.

Thanks in advance

Do you need to replace the entire side mirror assembly, or just the glass piece that goes into the housing?

Joe,

Yeah the whole assembly. The glass popped off but the clips holding it in are broken and it no longer folds electrically but now makes horrible noises. Outer housing is also cracked.

Take a look at this thread, I thought I remember a DIY on how to put the newer mirrors in, but it should still help you get the broken one out, and the new one in.

Joe,

Thanks for that. Looks like a real simple job.

Boron,
