heck to the no thank you I looked at the Suburban when I got the mini van.

1) sits up way to high
2) not remotely worth what they sell for
3) its American made (ill stop here...)

LOL...just wait I used to say the same thing myself and so did my wife. There comes a time when your kids come before "looking" cool in what your driving.

must love hatters especially ones with no kids...

some have to buy large things to compensate for small things

Like others say, when there is no way and minivan is a must , minivan it will be.

I gotta say thou, I drove a Caravan a few years ago to Boston from NYC and it was very comfortable . I can only imagine how nice new Honda or Toyota van must be.

Not hating on you whatsoever, what you are suggesting is that minivans are more practical for a family with kids. That maybe correct!

What I suggested instead of a mini van, why not something "cooler" like an SUV. Both haul about the same number of passenger and both have the space.

It's fine to own a minivan, but I think SUV is nicer to drive.

not even close.

most suv can't hold 3rd row passengers comfortably at all
most suv don't have much cargo space behind 3rd row at all
a lot of suv can't hold 8 people in a reasonably comfortable fashion
when all seats folded down, minivan can handle taller cargo
minivan has sliding doors both side, way more convenient than suv

as much as i like suv more than minivan and that i own a suv, it's just incorrect to say they have about the same space

We don't have kids yet, but when we do you can bet our Jeep will be traded on a Minivan, probably a Honda Odyssey. As much as I love that Jeep, with a kid, you just cannot beat a minivan. The flexible seating, the ability to take people with you and take the kid, the flat floor with the ability to move around inside, the ease of power sliding doors when you're carrying things. The additional safety with rear facing carseats. Even SUVs with three rows don't compare, you don't have the seating flexibility and the ability to move around like you do in a van.

Anybody who thinks an SUV is "just as convenient" as an SUV with kids, or "has just as much space", has never experienced moving a family with one or more kids in a Minivan.

Like everybody else, I much prefer the style of an SUV and how an SUV drives...but when you have kids...style takes a backseat to safety and convenience.

I wish we didn't need the mini-van but it does the job better then any SUV ever will/can. Now as the kids get older the SUV's that offer a 3rd row may work now that your not involving car seats and everything else that comes with this stage. Its also only one vehicle in the house you can still have another car, suv, toy, ect...but one dedicated family hauler is a must in this house.

Sure, once they get older an SUV is fine, but when they are young, minivan is a must.
